I still wonder how much WW2 ordnance got buried deep in the Australian outback? Anybody still alive who might know where it all is? Any detailed treasure maps passed down from generation to generation? History says it was the United States Navy that stopped cold the planned initial invasion of Australia by Japan. Placed called the Coral Sea.

Also wonder how much of that good old stuff might turn up and be used in a commission of some crime? My guess is very little or none. There might be a good reason for that also. Humm.

The Battle of the Coral Sea thwarted the invasion of New Guinea. The Japanese never executed an invasion of Australia although the IJN did exectute multiple bombing raids on Australian territory during the war. An outright invasion was discussed by the IJN General Staff early on but the Imperial Army put the kibosh on it before even entering the serious planning stage. Even then its hard to argue that the battle of the Coral Sea itself was a victory for the American Navy. We lost the Lexington completely and the Yorktown was put out of operation for a year afterwards. The Battle of the Coral Sea did deplete the Japanese carrier force and set the stage for the Battle of Midway which thoroughly crippled the Japanese Navy and allowed for the island hopping campaign that eventually brought down the Japanese.
