Have Gun Forums ever made you re-think how Voting may effect your gun rights?

  • Yes! I rarely considered gun issues when I voted until reading about gun legislation on gun Forums.

    Votes: 15 24.2%
  • No, Gun rights have always been one of the issues I considered when Voting.

    Votes: 46 74.2%
  • I don't Vote or participate in our Govt. process.

    Votes: 1 1.6%

  • Total voters

I didn't vote because the poll doesn't reflect the subject line. I've always voted pro gun but since I've been using the forums there have been a few voting issues that input from the unlimited community has helped clarify some issues that on the surface seem like a good idea... such as safe storage laws. Not just voting issued but hot topic issues like open carry. Yes, forums do influence people and the discussion here is valuable.
Your answering NO would be the right choice for the purposes of this particular poll.
Even a member who doesn't always vote with gun rights as their priority should vote NO as long as they always considered gun rights when Voting prior to looking at these type of gun Forum discussion groups.

But but some posters may feel that keeping Fundy Christian Jackbooted Thugs out of their Bedrooms or Backyard Pot Grows or ability to marry their Biker Buddy or inhibit their Latin American friends from seeking the El Norte Dream or foisting their fascist Racist Bigoted Sexist Homophobic Jim Crow Americana Ideals on our Children trump Private Firearms Ownership as an "Issue" at the polls ...

Why would you even ask that question?
Curious.

.

Thinking of scaling way back on my time spent on these Forums. I feel I may only influence a handful every couple of years online. The same face to face.
Never read the Novel but I'm starting to feel a bit Don Quixoteish. You educated ones here feel free to correct my analogy.
My eventual plan is to move out of this State anyway so..........

Political talk is good if it's true and informative. However it takes people that care enough to become informed.o_O

Until the last few years, I didn't do much politically. Mostly just bubblegumed and voted for whomever I thought would best support my views. This forum has helped me focus on not only 2A issues, but others as well, and how to become directly involved. I believe these forums help people to get a deeper understanding of the impact of legislation. Seeing some of the letters that others are writing helps me with my composition and spurs me to keep at it, no matter how hopeless it may sound.

This forum has helped me to see how it's vital that we all take an active stance on how we are governed, and that we actually can take an active part. There are others, but this forum is still a great clearinghouse for current bills in the legislature, meetings, hearings, and most importantly, how to be part of a united front.

It is like any other tool, Information can be gained to use in fighting, Writing, calling attention to issues and just like a news site (non MSM) its a source and sometimes even a place to just vent for sanity's sake.

You gotta wonder if the " I don't Vote or participate...." choice only has one Vote because those people won't Vote or participate in Gun Forum Polls either!o_O

BTW I finally voted and I'm one of the 9 Yes Votes.

I never thought one way or the other when voting, about gun issues. I've really never been into fire arms that much. Once in a while I'd borrow a .22 from someone and go out into the desert with some guys rabbit hunting and can shooting. I had a 10/.22 eventually, and shot dads Colt Woodsman. Dad was a hunter before I was born and quit. I didn't dive into guns until 2011 when I got Dad's old [Real Old] guns and for the first time shot Grandpa's pre mod 10. This forum has opened my eyes to the fact we need to hang on with teeth and finger nails to the tiniest things gun related because anti's are chipping away at our, LAW ABIDING GUN OWNERS, rights a little bit at a time.

I voted YES.

Mike

Just wondering if all the political gun talk on these forums is a waste of time or not.

Coming from a middle of the road background there are things I see/read that harm our cause in these forums though. The derogatory terms thrown around these forums turn me, and I'm sure others, off.

DEMOKKRAPS

LIBTARDS

OBUMER

OBONGO

Just several that come to mind. Our discussions here may not convince a lot anti gun people to take up the lifestyle, but it can sure make us ALL look like a bunch of uneducated slobs. I wish it would stop

All perfectly good names for the people that foul the Constitution and damage the 2nd.
The better suited descriptive names get turned to bubblegum. Literally [emoji53]

As for being middle of the road, it has got us nowhere and just another term the left loves to us to describe "the right must compromise but the left doesn't have to."
Being nice to libs has only pushed the Constitution toward the grave.
They love middle of the road only if it applies to those on the right. [emoji53]

I agree with that! Name calling totally alienates people who are somewhat Liberal or Voted for Obama but say they are also pro 2ndA and like gun Forums.

In some cases a gun forum like this might be the only place they hear another Political point of view, especially in this State. Do we want them to look at our posts or bristle and dismiss them after reading LIBTARD in the first sentence?

Using the proper nomenclature as well as admitting the faults of the Pro Gun Party is a good start towards convincing a person to at least open his/her mind to Voting against the herd when one Party has managed to get a Monopoly on our Govt. here in Oregon.

You are NOT Middle of the road if you are Socially very liberal .
Do we want to coddle folks who in the end will vote Democrat because to them 2A/RTKBA is just another right like Gay Marriage or the right to have unfettered back yard pot grows or the right to believe that Fundy Christians & right wingers want jackbooted morality Police in their Bedrooms ... The more we try and do the " Cant we all jus get along" thing the more we let them vote in folks who have it in for 2A/RTKBA in election cycle after election cycle. Until the Democrats here and at other firearm forum/boards start saying they are fed up with the Progressive Socialist anti-Gun party Platform of the Democrat Party and that they will not vote Democrat (Like Many of us eschew the RINO infested GOP and say so on these same Firearm forum/boards things will just get worse ...

Being civil is not the same as compromising or giving in. Nobody is going to pursuade a voter, liberal or conservative, to vote a certain way with antagonistic remarks like libtard or bubblegum.....

He who angers you, controls you.....

Exactly thus the Socially Liberal can rat pack & demean and steer conversation and exude confidence and manipulate Firearm forum/boards with impunity knowing that if challenged they can win the battle here as in the public mindset and popular culture.

^^^^ Good example.....

Reading comprehension, and tact are not your strong suits I guess. I'm not middle of the road regarding the second amenment. I came from a place where I never gave it much thought, until 2011. But I refuse to, openly anyway, align myself with people that spew derogatory names/terms for those they expect to side with them.

Be well.

and they divide their own ranks, human nature sees thru this on either side of the fence. Whats worse is if we, on our side of the fence do the same tactic.

Only libs want to control speech of others.
Its why they are all over themselves to take control of the net.

If its not profanity free speech is just fine by me. :D If I don't like it I generally ignore it.
Freedom is a wonderful thing. :)
I call it as I see it.

So you will run with the Kinder Gentler Far Left & Left (Like they don't spew hatred of Israel & Fundy Christians & Tea Party/Oathkeeper Militia types & Racist Sexist Bigoted Homophobic Conservatives of all stripes ... sheesh you guys are too funny , this is a two way street and acting as if one side is the only bad actor here is disingenuous ...

I don't think that I'm alone in the feeling that someone who resorts to fifth grade name calling, takes their credibility, and thus the strength of their argument down a few notches. When I see that kind of language on a liberal forum, it just makes me mad and does noting to make me want to consider their argument. When I see it here, I'm just disappointed that our supporters are letting emotion rule them.
