I fully expect a follow-up video addressing cover/barriers. With you on that one - I heard too many accounts from GWOT of dudes dying to 5.56, but taking way too long to do so. x39 on the other hand, just tends to stop someone in their tracks.

No, my only semi-auto currently is a Ruger SFAR 16" which has proven terminal on a variety of Ruminates and Suids within 300 yards thus far.

I've messed around with the short barreled .308s before. While kinda fun, not particularly useful.

For me it isn't the caliber, it's the firearm. Having shot both a lot I do better with the AR. No I don't want an AR in 762x39

I'd go with a 300 BO over a AK round...much more versatile. Can load bullets from 100gr or so out past 250gr and beyond...and still keep the very ergonomic AR platform.
