A fellow called in to Lars Larson Friday reporting that an employee thwarted an attempted robbery/carjacking/assault in Portland recently.

The employee was driving a + 2-ton service truck and merging onto a freeway when he was boxed in and forced to the shoulder by carjackers. Three people jumped out and rushed the truck. One went directly to the driver's door, where he was greeted by the muzzle of the driver's 9mm pointed at his face. This resulted in a rapid retreat by the assailants. The driver had a concealed carry permit, which saved the day.

My takeaway is that not only is the CCW necessary, but that even using the freeways in Portland is no longer safe.
