Speaking only for myself here...

I am damn sick and tired of the "Big Two" parties ...
Neither one of them actually represent what I value.

I am also damn sick and tired of being made to suffer the consequences for the actions of others.
Others in this case being criminals as well as those who misuse firearms.
Someone shoots up a school.....
Someone uses a firearm while committing some sort of crime...
Someone makes a mistake with a firearm....

All of the above is bad...and should not happen.
All of the above however...does not mean that the millions of firearm owners here in the US will do the same.
Nor should they be made to follow a law , ban , restriction , regulation made in response to the above..
Since the millions of firearm owners that I am talking about...ain't the problem here.

With all that said....
I ain't got no answers here other than :
A choice of the lesser of two evils...is still a choice of evil.

Totally agreed Andy, the way they behave regarding firearms is total socialism. Someone else commits a crime with a firearm, punish all firearms owners.

That's akin to punishing all drivers for the actions of a drunk driver…

Although it is at the forefront, for me the 2A has taken a backseat for now in the national debate. Anyone else find that odd? Outside of the candidates themselves, I am struggling to define what the actual debate is.

Obviously, I lean to one candidate that has well defined and historical policies. Harris's last official statement was if elected, she would act against the 2A (illegally) if congress wouldn't. What I don't see are any pro gun rights organizations pushing against that, even overtly 🤔. Is it a case of, don't mention it and hope it goes away?

While there are other issues that are important to me...some even as important as the 2nd Amendment is to me.
What is irksome for me is....
I have one Party saying that they will take firearms away....or words / actions to that effect...
And another Party...saying that they are pro-gun...but don't seem to do much to make me believe that.

Something to consider here is the last bit of the 2nd Amendment :
"...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms , shall not be infringed."
Notice that it does not restrict or limit what Arms one can keep or bear ...nor does it specify that those Arms are to be restricted or limited to any purpose.

It is high time that our elected officials remember who they work for....
Along with understanding the meaning of the documents that make that possible.
Andy
