Tempting but I've consistently read too many bad things about the Royal Tiger imported guns to roll the dice. As to the price, it has been a while since I've seen original M1 Carbines under a grand. Some of the commercial ones and clones, yes, but not GI. (And parenthetically the A-O copy we had was a shockingly bad POS, so caveat emptor.)
 
Having recently purchased a M1 carbine, I can concur that $1000 is not a bad price in the least bit. In many cases, the price of the carbine has eclipsed that of the Garand.
