My wife's late uncle was Pattons personnel driver and he gave up that cushy job to join the D day invasion.
He was also a dead ringer for Robert Mitchum.
Nobody knew about his war years in the army until he passed away and they found a box with all of his medals and other army memorabilia.
He never once talked about the war. My guess is that he handled that revolver more then once.
 


Hmmm, I wonder how much his silver plated and fully custom engraved Model 1873 with ivory grips that he was so often photographed wearing would fetch at an auction??
