...its not always practical to carry all that every day.

Yes it is, except I substitute pepper spray for the BUG because non-lethal tools are necessary, and I add something that can be used to make fire. I've never carried a BUG.

When I'm at work, I also add a titanium flask with water and some form of food, a defensive pen, emergency poncho, N95 flat-fold mask, and some sanitation stuff like TP, hand sanitizer packet, and an antibacterial wipe. Ever heard of cargo pants and ankle med kits?
