What is the point of posting items for sale if you aren't willing to make a deal with someone who wants to buy them?
That's an easy one. So you can tell your spouse you're selling it like she told you to do. Personally, I would just post it at an outrageous price so as to not waste others' time, but I suppose the incoming correspondence ads credence to the fact that the gun is up for sale. :s0092:

How about the ones that post "I'm interested" and then it's crickets. I had one guy respond to my ad with the above so I searched his posts, he constantly responds with the same BS and has never made a transaction.
"I'm interested" is a far cry from "I'll take it"

Imo I'll take it doesn't mean anything if the "buyer" has low integrity. I had one for sale here and guy said I'll take it. Then it was clear he was trying to get the $. Then he lowered the agreed upon price cuz he said he found for cheaper. I said send me the link to the cheaper one. He sent me totally different model. I responded that I'm sorry I can't sell it to you for any price and good luck in your search.

But "I'll take it" from a member with integrity, and there are a lot of them, usually established members, is totally different deal of course.

I've had the "I'm interested" a time or three. I respond..."Cool!" No sweat of my butt. And I don't think I've ever had a "serious, agreed on price, made plans to meet-up, agreed to time" and then had them cancel? Never been sitting at, THE place, and been stood-up either.

I have had people text my land line. Have to remember to tell them I don't do text.

This is long overdue IMO. So without further adieu:

1. Try to always include pictures. Even if the item is BNIB. It helps. trust me.

2. If its a WTS ad, chances are they aren't looking for trades. Money talks. If the OP says no trades, don't offer trades!

3. Please don't title ads like this:
WTS OR: and WA too blah blah gun stuff
The tag is for where the item is located, NOT where you're willing to sell.

4. Do not thread cr@p, meaning don't post links to online sellers with better pricing. Don't comment on how you think it's a bad deal. If you're interested, send a Convo and please don't put your phone number and email address out in the open. In other words, if you don't have anything nice to say, move on and let it be. Even if it is for a $100 brick of Thunderbolts.

5. Keep your ad updated and accurate, and if you sell your item close it. This can be done at the top right of the first post under "Thread Tools", then uncheck the option for "Open".

6. To make sure pictures aren't mixed in with the description, type the whole description then hit enter a couple of times. THEN upload your pics and insert them. It will keep them below the typed post and not mixed in between.

7. Make sure you start with a thoughtful and ACCURATE thread title. After 5 minutes you CANNOT edit it and then I or another Mod has to.

8. You want to be able to bump your ad to the top of the list more often? Again, Supporting Membership has privileges. Really guys, it's not that much.

9. Finally, if you have a group of items that are very similar, list them together with pictures and pricing. You can edit your post anytime something sells unlike title edits. So list a whole bunch of ammo with a title like "WTS OR: Large lot of various ammo calibers" then just edit the thread body as stuff moves.

And to finish this off, please familiarize yourself with the rules to be a member here at NWFA.

To ship or not to ship. Spent 4 hours with someone back and forth on a trade. He had something I wanted and I worked to find if I could match what he wanted from me. Got down to the end with what I was pretty sure that he wanted. Told him I could have it off to him Monday morning. Then tells me he didn't want to ship (evidently the PO was out of his way). Whatever but if you do not want to ship be sure and put that in your ad, as it helps the other side move on to something else.
Basic courtesy folks. It happens but is also very frustrating.

Be on time (especially if YOU are the one picking the time) and bring the money you agreed upon (don't have your lady running to the ATM while you waste the other person's time)

Just from personal experience (it was me..) you will feel a lot better about the transaction if you have your sh*t together.

I agree! That has happened to me, the guy shows up at our agreed LGS at the agreed time, but then asks after looking at the gun, "Where's the closest ATM?"
So I had to wait longer for this butthead to go get money to pay for his purchase.

What a clown!

At least he didn't try to haggle after agreeing on a price...

Or did he?... Haha

God I wish people would stop with the "Great deal! GLWS!" crap. Like, thanks for sabotaging the price negotiations for any other buyers. This forum should take a page out of other forums' rulebooks on classifieds threads.

Happened to me once, but I was the ATM guy. Seems my current present moment wife dipped into my wallet the night before and when it came time to pay I was short and had to go to the ATM. At least everyone got a good laugh out of it, except me.

thank you
