I had an unpleasant encounter with a LEO that straight up lied to me face today. I'm not cop bashing, I'm just not too happy with this particular experience.
At about 5PM today I was cruising home from a friends house, cruising along this long open road we call "China Ditch road" as I approach this stop sign, I get a blip of K band Radar from my Radar detector (Escort 8500 X50 for those who want to know) , as I stop at the stop sign I see an undercover Expedition to the left approaching the intersection about 100-200 yards away. So I stop then continue along China Ditch, he reaches the intersection and turns in behind me, speed limit's 50, I'm cruising 53-54, GPS verified. He starts riding my ***, then lights me up, I pull off on a small private road. He approaches my window and asks for my drivers license, at the same time I hand him my CPL and inform him I am carrying. He asks where and I tell him IWB 4:00, but surprisingly this has nothing to do about me carrying, he wasn't concerned with that. Our pleasant conversation went a little like this.
Cop: Do you know the speed limit on this road?
Me: 50.
Cop: Do you know how fast you were going?
Me.: 54.
Cop: I clocked you doing 66MPH in the 13300 block of 172 Ave
Me: Well I wasn't, to respectfully disagree, I was doing 54, it was right there on my GPS.
At this point I was getting agitated and was probably more aggressive than I should have been.
Cop: Well I clocked you doing 66MPH in the 13300 Block of 172nd Ave!
Me: You pulled out behind me, I have a radar detector, I know you're a cop, do you think I would do 16+ PSL in front of you?
And here's where his story starts to fall apart.
Cop: That's nice, but I'm using LIDAR. (Laser for those who don't know)
Me: LIDAR doesn't work from a moving vehicle!
Cop: I was stopped when I clocked you!
Me: No you weren't, you've been behind me since 119th and you're trying to tell me you lasered me at the 133rd block?!?!
Cop: Sit tight, I'll be right back
So this guy runs back to his rig, runs my record, finds it to be absolutely 100% squeaky clean and knows I've busted his lying ***. Meanwhile while he's sitting in his rig running my info, some POS ricer actually does go flying by actually doing this 66MPH fairly tale land speed he got me at.
He comes back out to my truck.
Cop: Look, I do this everyday, this is my job, I don't know what sh!t you think you know, but this is my job. I normally only cut breaks till 13-14+ PSL but I'm going to let you off with a warning and save you from a $147 ticket. Have a nice day.
Me: Thank you
This guy knows I busted his lame story and would have smoked him in court, that's the only reason he let me off with a warning, If I knew jack about Radar/laser like 99% of everyone else, I would have gotten a bogus ticket. I actually managed to win on the side of the road instead of having to go to court.
I have total respect for police and have usually had pleasant experiences with LEOs but this guy truly deserves the title of a filthy barnyard animal. Note to self, stay well away from the A-hole Clark County Sheriff Deputy in the Silver Undercover Expedition. Sorry this is my first bad LEO encounter and I'm fuming, I guess I should just be happy I don't have a ticket to fight right now.
And if he wanted to go "fishing" why didn't he just tell me he stopped me for 4+ PSL?
Here's a map of what went down.
