I sent a pistol to Langdon Tactical in AZ a month ago and they did send it back directly to me via FEDUP

But understand this policy is a one-off. You can't just send a pistol through the mail. You can only do it if they send you a printed address label to send it through their carrier. Your only other choice is to take it to an FFL and have them send it to the repair shop. Follow the rules or your pistol may end up in limbo
No you can send and receive your pistol to and from an FFL through UPS or Fedex or other common carrier, and you can do the same with a long gun through USPS. It's pretty common for more specialized work.

That's why I said to get the address label from the vendor. but your choice

Thanks guys, their website says to ship it to them 2 day service, and they will ship it back. However they have yet to respond to my multiple emails regarding this... Which makes me nervous. Supposedly a reputable firm (Agency) but no response really does make me nervous... Which seems to be the norm lately :-(

Nothing on their site mentioned a shipping label, or their carrier - just that I ship with 2-day (or quicker) service. Since guaranteed overnight takes 3 days to Salem from here, and they're out of state I don't know what to think.

You have to contact them, tell them you want X work done on X gun with X serial number and then you have to ship it to their FFL adress. Most places don't pay for or set-up shipping to them.

All of that was in their drop down menu items, along with payment - all they gave me was an address to send it to. I'm NOT however going to send them my pistol until they reply to my question as I don't want to lose my favorite pistol. Looks like a with everyone else I've inquired of lately, nobody answers.

Call them not email. Talk to a REAL actual person. I personally ask for a gunsmith they have, or a gun tech person who ever they call it.

I've had many companies snail mail me a factory pre paid shipping label as I mentioned earlier in this thread. So far, I've never had to ship through my FFL Dealer to get any gun to a factory, or the factory to ship it to my FFL to pick it back up after repairs or custom work is done.

The gun companies have always shipped guns directly back to me since I am the owner. 👍

Yes, your personal firearms can ship straight to your doorstep from a gunsmith, no different from warranty work done by a factory. I assume the gunsmith is an FFL..

The rule of thumb is handguns cannot ship by ground service. Use Shipmygun.com to ship handguns. Very easy and well worth it.

Currently going through this with Springfield and their XDS recall.
I just got mine approved to be shipped to them for the fix and their website states that they'll send me a 2 day air FedEx label and that they'll use the same when it ships back to me.
They also state that FedEx will deliver right back to my doorstep with just an adult signature verification. I'm hoping this is the case since I really don't feel like doing another 2wk waiting period on something that's already mine.

Yea, I hear you... Or rather I can't hear you from nearly 5 decades of firing a pistol on a very regular basis. I'm alone here on the boat, when my one remaining son arrives I've got so many things we've got to do, and so much we've got to talk about that my list of people I wish I could call never makes it to the top of my list.
