Had one of those 'Really? I can't believe I'm seeing this' episodes early this morning when listening to the news.

Apparently Starbucks introduced a Teddy Bear style coffee cup and people have been overwhelmed by this thing including a fight breaking out at a Houston, TX Starbucks between people wanting to get their 'paws' on them

I know we've seen this before over other useless things but a coffee cup? Really ? What ultimately drives people to sink to these levels?

I mean, is the 'world not enough' with all its problems, issues and concerns to cause people to overlook everything and engage in potentially dangerous behavior over a coffee cup?

My wife mentioned this to me last night.....unfortunately im not surprised by their actions. It is 2025 and ill bet it was the usual suspects, they care about no one but themselves! Ive received some strange looks just for saying good morning or opening a door for someone. It really blows them away when your walking into a store and ask if you can return their cart for them.......the world has gone mad!

Starbucks will often do limited run cups and only give each store a handful of them.

It creates demand and lack of supply.

I only know this because I used to work with them.

A $20 cup will sell online for well over $100 depending on the demand and I have seen them listed for many hundreds.

I'm just glad gun companies don't do stupid crap like this (keep supply low/limited runs, high demand)... Oh wait they do  (see Brownell's retro line, see H&R, PSA, Colt, Winchester, CZ, Kimber, Noveske, and so on)

Wife was telling me about this. Then on the way home I heard on one show that people were putting them up on fleabay for several hundred bucks. One of the greats from the past, Barnum I think, said something along the lines of you would never go broke betting on human stupidity. People prove it over and over again. Remember the Pet Rocks? I remember when people were buying those damn things. The people that came up with the idea were laughing all the way to the bank.
