There may not be enough Constitutionalists willing to risk their jobs and families to stand up to the fascism coming from Salem.

On the other hand, if industries start shuttering and Oregon loses a lot of revenues from the fact that they effectively defanged whole industries and ran them out....
They don't care their turning Oregon into California. How anyone could possibly think that is a good thing is beyond me.

Absofrickinlutely the Sheriff can block the OSP as well as any F.B.I. or others that might show up!

The smart move is for the Sheriff to let them arrest the Repubs, as it shows just how crooked Kate and co. are, and it might make it easier to remover her from office! It also sets the stage for recalls and a push to have investigations by the DOJ into OryGuns politics!

The Sheriff should offer "Protection" to all politicos within Marion County, and then he can intervene to get them released to his custody and if he decided, go after Kate!

Hopefully they went to eastern Washington or across the snake ..western Washington is as bad or worse than Oregon now and the laws only apply to people that don't agree with them.

Doubtful. She's a Democrat in a blue state and has "been in a position of power for a long time" according to herself so.... She's pretty much bullet proof. And that's really just a shame

Unfortunately your right . She bears strong resemblances to a man in Germany in the 1930s

Would that our Republicans in WA woulda had the nerve to do this re our own Democrackwhores Gone Wild...

Problem, OR and WA are not viable refuges for each other, they all need to bug out for Idaho. And, I'm starting to think, so do we all here...

Mrs. 3M was out shopping yesterday so found out all this for the first time when she got home. I explained to her what cap and trade really was (state revenue and redistribution of wealth) and it impact on increasing energy costs. I explained that the Republicans walked out because they want this to be a ballot measure voted on by the people, then the actions of the state to force legislation by arresting and fining the Republican Senators. Combine that with frequent overturning the will of the people by quietly passing things we voted down at the polls (motor voter without guarantees that non citizens will accidentally on purpose get registered to vote, and the Corporate Gross Receipts Tax as two examples) and the alarms finally went off.

She is NOT a political person and usually just goes to her happy place when I talk politics, but she spent the rest of the evening and into the wee hours looking at properties in Free States.

I think they might have been promised free stuff and all the sunshine they want (IMO the sunshine is more likely to happen). Plus camping in tent cities is lots of fun! Never mind the roving gangs of rapists and murderers - they are all Trump's fault.

What do these senators expect to ultimately gain from this? Whether they vote now, next year, 10 years from now, they will be in the minority, representing a minority of Oregonians and will never have enough votes to stop these bills.

As far as I'm concerned, a senators job in this instance would be to represent their constituents with a vote, regardless of their party, or their partys size or power. Holding the process hostage will only make things worse, faster.

Weren't they called "Brown Shirts" in the '30s Germany?
Yes but the leader was called the f

There's no carbon or energy tax in tents .by the time they are done we will both be camping

All they can do, and this may have been the entire purpose, is to get attention placed on what is happening in Salem. They want this legislation to be voted on by the people, and this attention is the only way for them (a long shot) to make that happen. They want discussion so the people understand how this will impact their lives, and up until now this has been kept pretty quiet by the press.

Politically, Oregon is split 3 ways - Democrats, Republicans, and the independent voters. The largest group are the independents. A swing of a few hundred thousand voters, who may be off put by Salem's over reach, could shift the balance to the Republican side.

I would have to disagree with this slightly. The tyranny began when she was appointed. Now her mentality and what she is really like is starting to come to light. Unfortunately, Oregon won't change as long as Portland, Salem and Eugene are heavy populated with LWG/LGO voting 'D'.

The only way it can/will change is by ousting her and the rest of them.

Fixed it...

And when they did it, nobody sent out the BROWN SHIrTS to force them back.

I suppose this depends on the definition of "brown shirts." When the Texas Democrats fled the state 2009 in the same way our Oregon Republicans have now the Republican-led legislature was quick to send the Texas Rangers and State Troops after them to bring them back.

It was wrong in Texas the same way it is wrong here in Oregon right now. The context of my quote was Oregon - years ago the Oregon Democrats fled and the then in control Republicans negotiated with them. They did not go the route of Brown.

For reference, anything I post in this thread involves Oregon unless otherwise specified.
