For those that have packed quartered bear out of the woods, what weights can I expect for the average fall bear?

I am considering a wilderness area for a day hunt. Just want to make sure I plan enough trips in and out if we get one. I am thinking two trips, quartered meat then skull/hide. Just want to make sure that it is reasonable.

Are you boning out?
Heh-heh, heh-heh, heh-heh….

Sorry, couldn't resist that setup….;)

My 5' 8" square bear was 173lbs of meat and hide in one trip. The 5' 6" bear was 147lbs So depends how much fat they have too. But pretty much expect to be crushed and need a stiff drink after the pack out.

With a pack in hunt I would never pack out bone, the exception would be the skull for mounting purposes. An average black bear will yield about 45lbs of boned meat, so a 1 trip pack is possible. If packing the skull and hide 2 trips would be most likely.
