Yes, the dock can connect. In theory, *IF* the gun was on the dock, and *IF* someone had the right codes and software (say, a false "update" that actually removed all the authorized users or "reset" the gun to factory), they could "hack into" the dock and force the gun to clear all the authorized users /wipe the data or whatnot.

In practice, this means they could, given the former conditions, disable the gun if the gun was docked for the fake and malicious software update - but that's a far cry from disabling it when it's in your hands and needing to be used.

It would take a significant amount of effort and luck, but in theory, I suppose a nefarious party could do such a thing. You'd have to crack every firearm individually, to boot - what works for Biofire #1 wouldn't work for Biofire #2 (since each has a unique code to crack).
Again, Im not a computer person but there are things we do know...

Bad guys will case neighborhoods with laptops looking for open wifi signals, to hack into home computers... without ever having to step inside the house. Is it possible for them to know who set their smartgun dock up to their wifi? Now they know your armed, and with what.
Bad guys have for years hacked card readers at gas pumps to extract bank info from an rfid chip in a piece of plastic. Ive heard they can read cards just passing by them. Can undocked smartgun biometric data be compromised via intentional electronic interference? Could bad guys simply replicate the smartgun dock?

All I know is its a never ending cycle of theft deterrent technology keeping up with criminal technology seeking to crack it.

And on a slightly different note, buy a smart gun and you are forever married to that companies service/maintenance plan.

This gun enables wide reaching gun control so the more that are sold the quicker that will become a reality. If few are sold and the company goes tits up, the less likely this far reaching gun control will occur (I mean gun control due to the existence of this technology not other forms of gun control), at least in the near future.

It's called war driving and they will attack wifi routers and any 'smart' device they find. Smart devices are notorious for bad security.
