All areas of our planet have various uncontrollable risks. The individuals need to assess that risk and mitigate accordingly (or not worry about it).

Here along the 5 corridor, it's the cascadia earthquake. Hope it never happens in our lifetime, but it will happen, and our hope will have nothing to do with if it does or not.
