A friend of mine bought a home in Portland.

In the basement behind a movable panel was a heavy lock down door that led into a full on bomb shelter, all underground with hidden filtered vents that looked like large rocks on the surface in the yard.

Plenty of room for food storage and people.

My Wife is into this too, if we ever won the lottery it would probably end up looking like the Winchester mansion :bananadance:

I'd love to have a basement for storage or a place I can brew but our water table is too high, about 3' in winter. So may make a good but cold indoor swimming pool. Money is also an issue. But to dream I can relate.

I have seen secret passages in some old, and I mean really old, houses in New England. Pretty neat.
