Another project complete

Just finished another project, a Ruger old model (3-screw) Blackhawk. I reblued the metal, adapted a Colt brass grip frame and made my own grip panels from bloodwood.

So what type of bluing did you settle on for the cylinder? "disasterpiece" I hate it when they come out looking like that!!

You'll want to put a good uv resistant finish on those grips or they will brown out significantly. Most of the exotic hardwoods with spectacular color (bloodwood, Purple Heart, paduk, etc) tend to lose their color to brown with uv exposure. Sadly, as spectacular as the initial color is, is as plain as the underlying grain is. So try to find some uv resistant finish to protect those, as it looks like you did a nice job on them!
