(My emphasis)I am not for a lot of regulations but airlines need to be forced to give refunds for medical issues. I've been on too many long flights with people hacking and coughing 9-10 hrs. They are miserable as is everyone around them and I'm sure someone is getting sick on their vacation.
But a lot of people buying $700-1200 non refundable tickets aren't going to take the hit and fly anyway. I can't remember the last time I was on a flight that wasn't packed. Since people want to get to their destination I don't think it would be overly abused.
I like watching this particular thread because I travel frequently. Folks post great stuff here. If you have seen the George Clooney movie Up in the Air, I'm not quite there yet (Executive Platinum status, but not Concierge Key, lol) and I keep status on Southwest. I'm a travel diva. (Dude version) The bottom line is that if you don't have status with airlines, hotels, car rental companies, TSA PreCheck, airline club access, etc., then traveling sucks.Since 2001 I generally hate airports, airlines and flying. I really only started flying again when I go overseas. One thing I noticed is people seem to show symptoms mostly on the flights back to the US. I don't really notice the sniffing, coughs and snotty sounds on the going away. Not to mention the plane etiquette.
One thing I saw for the first time were showers available at the Munich airport. Great ideaI wish more airports would adopt this and more passengers consider using them.
Sounds like a great way to fly. Apparently, I have Clear because I just got charged for it but never signed anything. It may have been part of a credit card promotion but thanks for reminding me I need to check that out. I haven't been a loyal customer to any particular airline so I never accumulated any miles. I take the shortest flight, fewest stops at the best price. If Spirit flew to London, that would be me. The most expensive ticket I'll buy is "Uppity Economy".I like watching this particular thread because I travel frequently. Folks post great stuff here. Airline clubs gave you access to showers, food, comfortable seating that is (usually) not too close to others, nice washrooms...you get spoiled. Have status and fly internationally and it feels like the red carpet is rolled out for you. I bypass the lines for check-in, get free luggage allowance, use PreCheck to shorten or eliminate my wait for security (and not have to pull out seven different electronic devices...it's not a big deal.
But if you don't have these benefits, especially if you are travelling with kids, it can't be a very pleasant experience.
Add this and all you get is increase in price. When you go to buy a ticket there are lots of options. Want the cheapest? They are there with restrictions. So when you want the cheapest and want no restrictions by Gov order? You are asking others to pay.I am not for a lot of regulations but airlines need to be forced to give refunds for medical issues.

What I am more worried about is the guy who cheaps out and will still fly with some airborne herpes complex because the refundable ticket was $50 extra. It's not worth the potential spread of whatever Joe Cough-a-mi ute is spreading.Add this and all you get is increase in price. When you go to buy a ticket there are lots of options. Deranged Frontier Airlines passenger tries to jump out of plane mid-flight, causing emergency landing in Miami, wild video shows
A Frontier Airlines flight was diverted to Miami on Sunday when a deranged passenger tried to pry open the exit doors and break into the pilot’s cabin during a mid-flight rampage, according to auth…nypost.com
Anyone identified by the Navy?
There is a SUPER simple way to "fix" the problems with flying. Every time some asshat can't control themselves they get banned by the TSA from ever getting on a plane. Let them use the bus or train. The reason there is so much of this is the people doing it get a hand slap. You should get one chance. If you push it to the point they have to remove you from the plane? You should never pass a TSA check again. This stuff would all but stop. This still isn't as bad as some videos of drunk passengers refusing orders on Spirit.
