Recently I have noticed I am NOT getting any TEXT notifications (sound or vibration) and when I DO get a text the phone doesn't even 'light up' when I receive it. I have to open 'messages' to see if I got any. Phone ringer works fine however.

OK, I have poured through all the settings, 'Do not disturb' is off, and any of the other indicators. I have EVEN turned ON all Chrome notifications yet when I look at a contacts' name, and the 'notifications' status it says,

'At your request, Android is blocking this category of notifications from appearing on this device'

OBVIOUSLY I AM overlooking something and hope someone can help. Thanks!

Check these settings
Settings>Notifications>App Notifications
Settings>Notifications>Advanced Settings
Settings>Notifications>Flash Notification
Settings>Sounds and Vibration>Notification Sound (check if set to silent)
Settings>Sounds and Vibration>Volume (check Notification volume level)
Hope this helps

Damn tech can be something to raise the old blood pressure for sure. I have found over the years that many phones seem to have different ways of "settings". Last few times I got stuck I would search for that particular model and what you are looking for. There is almost always some youtube video's of how that particular model works.

This reminded me that since I got my Pixel phone nearly 2 years ago, the Messages have never been making a sound, and unlike my previous Android phones, I couldn't figure it out.
Well, because it's been mentioned, I decided to figure it out. Darn convoluted process!

Go to Settings>Notifications>App Notifications>Messages> then do this (made no sense at first):

Tap on "Incoming messages"

Tap on "Sound" and Bob's your uncle..

2 years later I finally have messages sounds 🤣

I FINALLY did and this took care of it! I was ONLY looking at the general phone notification settings and NOT the specific messenger app!

Thanks!

If it happens again the first step is to send it in for a trade out to upgrade to an apple Iphone…

Yea yea yea, well someone had to say it first ;) :p :D

Just threw a perfectly "good" iPhone 14 under the tire of my 14k pound Ford Super Duty work truck and "accidentally" ran it over 2 weeks ago.
Whoops.....

🤦

I got yer 6 on this!

Ditched those glitchy POS Android phones YEARS ago for an iPhone and have never looked back!

My iPhone 14 Pro with 256GB of memory has been amazing for the last two years.
