I hope this is the right place where my review of the alien gear Photon holster fit full size SIG Sauer P320 - non light bearing.

My holster arrived today, what a beast. For one it's much larger than my pistol, and kinda looks like it's shaped like it but actually the pistol stopped short by an inch and a half because the muzzle hits part that obviously isn't shaped like my pistol. I'm going to call this one generic, but at a bespoke price. Screwy instructions, and you'll need a third hand to assemble it. Not even comfortable - I expected more at this price point. RETURN

I have never much cared for anything Alien gear. I own one of their shape shift holsters and found it to be like assembling Lego's . I recently ordered a custom leather holster from Evan King out of Newberg for my light bearing X-10 Sig and the fit and retention is superb. I'll be buying his custom shoulder rig next for my P320 X-carry

Got a link for Evan King?

I have one Alien Gear OWB holster, Cloak model I think. I use it for games. It's bulky. Otherwise it's fine. I don't use it much.

It's a convertible holster...IWB, OWB, Appendix, Sidecar, etc. Usually holsters like this do everything mediocrely or poorly, and nothing particularly well. And never as well as a purpose built holster.

I also don't understand your comment, "...at a bespoke price." According to their website, It's a $35 holster. That is hardly bespoke. And it's Alien Gear. You had way too high expectations.

I'm sorry, at $99 (Sportsman's Warehouse) it competed with holsters that were actually made for my P320. The Kydex mold that Alien used looked more like it was for a CZ75 than a P320 - it was so not molded to fit a P320 that it wasn't funny. I have a $29 holster that WAS made for a P320. The alien mold was very generic kinda gun shaped mess. If it had fit I might have overlooked it's poor balance.

How is it a $35 holster on Alien Gear's site but $99 at Sportsman?

Was it sold as a kit with a side car and a bunch of other stuff? Because that's still...at the end of the day...a $35 holster. Which is part of the problem. Or does Sportsman just screw people and bump prices 300%? I don't ever buy from them so have no experience with them.

Was the CORE package o'junk

It was so not shaped like my P320 that it bottomed out nearly 2 inches short where the accessory rail hit the part that wasn't even vaguely P320 shaped. Yes, I could loosen the screws to open it up enough to go all the way in, but at that point it was nearly 3-1/2" thick at the bottom and looked like I had a drink carrier with a 40oz malt liquor bottle hanging off my hip - and was still so top heavy that it would wrench the paddle out of your wasteband. I tried every way I could to use it to be able to keep it to keep from having to travel over 100 mi back to return it but travel over 100 mi back to return it I did because it was a total piece of crap.

Alien Gear was OK when they had a leather backing but they don't offer leather anymore. I have few IWB with black leather and they work well and are comfortable holsters for me.

That is the problem, many brands have made decent products, and developed a following only to be bought by another company that substituted some crap, and cashed in on their previous reputation until everyone catches on. They know they will still have people who haven't paid close attention who will buy their products because they remembered their name being quality.
