This has nothing to do with my name:s0112:. I have an old S&W revolver that I have had mixed information on about its caliber. If holding the gun, the right side of the barrel is stamped
38 S&W SPECIAL CTG". Is there a difference between this and a regular 38 special? Just curious, because I don't want to do anything that will blow my hand off:D. If it helps, I believe the model is a 1905 4th change.

TIA,
BJ

The 38 S&W is a bit different than a 38 Special. The case of the S&W is a bit larger at the base, and won't chamber in a 38 Special cylinder..........

You can fire 38 Special loads thru it, but stick to regular load, avoid anything with a +P on it.
