Even the architect of the WTC says that its not possible.

The towers were designed to withstand an impact from a Boeing 707, which was the largest commercial airliner of the era.
Its a plane roughly the size of a 757 or 767, had 4 engines and had a fuel capacity of 23000 gallons.

So if something was designed to withstand that kind of impact, tell me could they have been so wrong? Structural engineering and the laws of physics havent changed since the 60s... Do you suppose that a slight miscalculation could lead to the total pulverization of both WTC towers and the Building 7, which had no impact? I hardly think so.

So, where does popular mechanics or whomever else actually take on the issue? Well for the mostpart they dont. I read a lot of opinion and speculation by the same people who contributed to the official story in the first place. Their part on Bldg 7 was a complete joke.

in the end it doesnt matter... just like the election, half of us will beilieve one side, half will believe the other and those in the middle either dont care or dont have the numbers to make a difference, thus maintaining the status quo.

And if Bush had had the balls to really push into Tora Bora, that would have settled things a lot sooner.
If Regan and GHW Bush had an sense they wouldn't have left Afghanistan hanging after the Soviets pulled out. Afghanistan had been a fairly secular/progressive country before the Soviet invasion. But since the people elected a Socialist, we couldnt stand it... which further isolated the Afghan govt which forced them further into an alliance with the USSR. And once they stopped playing ball, the tanks rolled in.

So what did we do? We ignored the secular/nationalists who had a good chance of taking over the country and leading it down a progressive path. Read up on Abdul Haq. But we supported the islamists and the wahabi radicals coming out of Saudi Arabia instead. We gave billions of dollars in cash and weapons to the pakistani ISI and let them decide who received the aid. And thus the Taliban was born.

Afterall, anything less might let left leaning people take office... instead the Taliban killed them.

OR even better how about the billions we sent the Taliban in aid so that they would remain friendly to western oil interests... afterall Unocal needed a pipeline out of central asia and halliburton/bechtel needed the contracts to build it. None of which could be done without a friendly government in place. And there is nothing like ruthless conservative dictatorships to foster private industy's advance.

No different than what we did or allowed to happen in latin america on behalf of ITT or United Fruit or Anaconda mining, etc. because anyone who suggests that a nations natural resources should be used to benefit the nation in which they were extracted HAS to be a communist and WE have to torture and crush them.

Jesus, conspiracy theorists are everywhere........

What ever floats your boat. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that that the only 9/11 conspiracy was the one hatched by the extremists that carried it out. Architects are not infallible and they did not have anything to do with the materials the buildings were built from. There were no missiles launched from the belly of the planes and demolition experts did not plant explosives.

Our government got caught with their collective pants down.

I am not sure what happened that day. I am sure that what we are being led to belive is not true. Just because you realize that a story is B.S. dosent automatically make you a tin foil hat wearing conspercy theorist. The 'war' in Afghanistan is all about money/banking (money laundering), drugs and oil routes only. The reporter (below) makes a misstatement at the beginning. In fact, the Taliban almost eliminated the poppy fields. That was one of the reasons we attacked. To restore the CIA drug trade. The main reason is they refused to let Unocal run the country when we gave them their ultimatum in the Summer of '01. Oil routes to the Caspian sea or face US bombs. It was never about the scripted boogeyman named Bin Laden. That was just for the non thinking drones. OBL was dying of kidney failure in the summer of 2001 and was set up to be a great patsy.
