It is an interesting demonstration in what could be done in a home workshop with materials at hand.

My grandfather was pretty good at that - he made and installed a pretty decent peep sight on a Marlin bolt action .22 that I used for years. Much better quality than in the article.

But other stuff (non-firearm things) he made were obviously just rigged to work well enough to get the job done. He was very thrifty, lived through the depression and back when there were not a lot of gunsmiths that were craftsmen. It got the job done.
 
As someone once said, "Necessity is the mother of invention." So it's great to see someone pushing the envelope...just go easy on the drilling with any of the good stuff :rolleyes:
