A common complaint I've been hearing on the usual statist mouthpieces (NPR, NYT, Wapo, etc) is how the NRA got Congress to ban CDC research into gun violence and if research were allowed, the CDC would "prove" the correlation between civilian gun ownership and gun crime.

Here's a good article from Reason back in 1997 when the actual debate took place: Public Health Pot Shots - Reason.com

Naturally self-funded government propaganda outlets would support government funded propaganda, and the mouthpieces rely on short and selective memories to push their lies.

the FBI still has records, they also show that all violent crime has been reducing. places where gun laws are the strictest, more people are victims of violent crime.

all on the FBI website.

"working toward changing society's attitudes so that it becomes socially unacceptable to own handguns." ...That sounds strangely like something Eric Holder has said before...

That article is exactly right about the CDC and their junk science. Bad enough that it helped lower the floor on government studies.

A number of the studies that article references are very well done studies. I've read the Kleck one they reference. Might have to read another one from the article.
