Howdy,

I've decided it's time to let go of my 03-A3.

Manufactured in 1943 during WWII

It's in excellent condition, clean bore appears to have no pitting, smooth bolt.

I've highlighted all the markings and cartouches but please let me know if you'd like Additional Photos.

Rock Island Arsenal Leather Sling Included

Asking $950 Cash, Not Interested in trades, Thanks!

Barrel date of 4-43 jives well with serial number date of 5-43. Nice looking gun. Probably got just a quick glance over at Ogden Arsenal during that process and stock stamping, as other than repro sling, it looks pretty well in original condition. Overall, a very nice rifle!

I would consider taking some kroil and 0000 steel wool to that butt plate. That's like a wart on a supermodel...

It was Not uncommon for an Unissued 03A3 to leave Ogden w/ their OG stamping.

This one seems to have a double set of inspector's proofs in front of the Trigger guard.
Need a book to decipher.
Also curious abt the round depressions on the grip at the Firing Proof "P".???

also rcvr is from early June '43, so bbl date is just fine too...:):)

Your right, back in the early 60s I got one, not from Oden, a unfired 1903 A3 4. One of of the last of the first 500,000 Sniper A4s. Redfield one piece scope mount, but without a scope or any open sights. In a C stock. It came from DCM back when you were allowed one of each kind in a life time. That Remington is still in the condition that I received it...unfired. I knew it was special! The only metal wear is a slight buff on the extractor top where it traveled through the receiver bridge. Able to ID the rifle through an article in the Rifleman some years back, and kept a copy. It had serial numbers of all those A3 and how the serial numbers were stamped differently so the numbers could be read with the scope and mount attached. None of the rifles were shipped with scopes attached unlike the Garands. Not a clue why except they were mainly Weaver and not very good quality. About the same as my .22 Weaver B scopes but the ones on the 1903 were not sealed well and known to fog!

Hi All- hope to shed some light on the markings. Per the book, the OG is that it had gone through the repair/refurbishment at the Ogden Arsenal. If it did come from the OG first it would have had the inspector's mark from that arsenal, none other than Elmer Keith himself. As to the FJA, that is Francis J Atwood, who inspected from 1942-44. I am a bit of an Elmer fan, and have held one of the Keith inspected rifles in my hands before.

Nice rifle you have!
