Pros
  • Robert can be a fairly nice guy
  • Sometimes cheap. As in, inexpensive. Until you have to right his wrongs.
Cons
  • Terrible traning
  • Doesnt tell you if he cant do something
First experience i had robert order and install night sights on a pistol. When i brought the pistol to have them installed he happily did the work on the spot using punch and mallet which is fine by me. The part that irked me was that he was having some sort of trouble getting the rear on and pulled out a dremel- scratched the piss out of the slide. I wished he had mentioned that what he was doing was necesarry and that there was potential for the finish to be removed.

Years later my mother and i took his "enhanced" concealed weapons class.
This was an eight hour class with four hours of legal instruction. I learned absolutely nothing and was appalled to find that the vast majority of the instruction was robert babbling on incoherently about things not pertinent. Same with the "legal instruction" that somehow went so off -course that the sheriffs deputy who provided the instruction went on talking about vehicle head and taillight laws, proper license plate display and mudflaps. He even contradicted robert on numerous legal points.

Live fire was even worse with robert berating and harrassing the novice folks, in turn causing even more anxiety for them.

Do NOT take this class as a novice unless you are a glutton for punishment. I feel terrible for the many folks new to guns that had to experience this insanely terrible training.

Pros
  • Good AR stuff
Cons
  • Store hours and lack of ammo, reloading components and firearm selection
We'll, they aren't the best, as someone else stated. They cater to the black rifle club and do a good job at that. Their staff is pretty knowledgeable. However, they don't have a wide selection of firearms. Half the time I stop there, they are closed. I've ended up going to northwest armory and finding what I needed on those days. I did have one bad experience when I had them order a lower for me. They forgot to order it. I called to ask them if it was in the shop yet and they said they had record of the purchase order, but totally spaced actually ordering it. At least they were honest and accepted responsibility on that one.

Pros
  • Prices, knowledge, quality
Cons
  • Ammo selection, closes too early
I don't believe I have ever had a bad experience at Curt's. If you are looking for anything black guns related they usually have it. The staff seems quite knowledgeable and more than happy to help with any questions. They seem to be committed to carrying only quality parts and accessories (no air soft junk). Selection and prices are not internet low but once you factor in shipping and transfer fees they are very competitive.
There are only two reasons I couldn't give them a 5 star,
1: I'm a working man and getting there before 5pm is not easy for me, I own a retail establishment myself and staying open thill 6pm is best for my customers who have to work. If your customers are rushing to get to you they'll find the other store that's open later.
2: The ammo inventory is not the best, could definitely do with more stock and selection.
These are by no means deal breakers, I will continue to shop at Curt's first when looking for anyhting gun related.

I remember going there as a youth from time to time. I recently stopped by while on a trip out to the coast. The two folks I interacted with were friendly and helpful. They had a relatively small selection of long guns and an even smaller collection of handguns. One funny thing I noticed is they had some oddball ammo on the shelf (e.g., .307 Winchester, .32 Colt, etc.). Beyond firearms, they sell fishing equipment, clothing, etc.

Cons
  • Not the fastest, but he does all the gunsmithing and refinishing himself.
I've only had him do a couple small things, but I have friends who have had some extensive work done. A buddy had his self built (built it in a 1911 course) finished there with Duracote. He also had another gun refinished and added front grip... texturing. I can't really think how to describe it. Not stipling or checkering, and not quite a snake skin pattern but that's closer. It also had a slightly different shape than the standard rounded front. It was kind of an experiment that Aaron was fine with him doing. It had a trigger job and new trigger while it was there.
Another had his beat up Colt Delta Elite completely rebuilt and modified with beavertail, ambi safety, new trigger hammer and sear. Plus checkering. It came out very nice.
I have a buddy who had his AR finished in a Vietnam era tiger stripe pattern. Rifle, handguard, original stock and grip, light, laser, Eotech body, and magnifier.
I do have a 1911 that he did some work on. I bought it from a former co-worker so I don't know exactly what he did other than replacing the Springfield ILS grip safety with a one piece magwell, and working on the trigger. I'm pretty sure that meant replacing the hammer at the very least, and I'm pretty sure the sear and disconnector as I don't see the MIM flue spots.

For the last few years I have been enjoying the micro red dot mount that Attero Arms makes. It's priced well, solid as a rock, and holds zero after years of abuse. Glad to hear he's branching out with an FFL.

Pros
  • $25 transfer fee
  • Fast transfers
  • Support your local veterans
Bought a couple handguns through here. Only $25 for transfer fee on both occasions. Attero Arms sent the FFL info to the shipper same day in both cases, and I was in and out in under 15 minutes for both pick ups. Never a line here. Would highly recommend.

Side note: The road going to the building is a bit rough, best to bring something with some ground clearance.

Tim did it for me once again... blended two Bisley frames and parts into a Blackhawk and a Single Six, results stunning. Also helped me thread my P938-22 conversion into a perfect host.
Great prices and outstanding work. If Tim would like to add images, I only request he markup the serial numbers obscured. A+++

I had an old S&W 19-6 that was handed down from for father that passed away and needed it checked out as it sat for many years after he passed before I ended up with it. Welcomed me into his awesome shop and gave it the TLC it needed and gave me some details about the gun I didn't know. I would certainly go back and suggest him to others. :)

By far the best gun shop in the county. Gun counter guys are helpful and not the typical know it all A holes you encounter most places. Knowledgeable. Friendly.

One of the best shops in the Salem area. I've been buying from them since not long after they opened a few years ago. Great staff and a nice selection of guns, new and used. They will work with you on online transfers or order something for you. I've had good service with both. The new store isn't as cramped and they have more available now.

The best little gun shop you'll ever visit. It's no bigger than a walk in closet, but jam packed full of excellent deals. The owner says "I'm running a gun shop, not a museum" and the prices definitly reflect that. Very friendly and knowledgeable, veteran father and son owned and operated.
Excellent source for AR15 builds, Ammo, Silencers, and a large selection of good used guns as well.
Stop in and tell em I sent you... :s0155:

Pros
  • price, service,
I love Gordon to death, he runs a great shop and includes the BG into the price, so its an out the door price. He is on par with almost every single shop and with the BG included, your usually 10 bucks cheaper walking out. Take the drive south!

I know the guys at the factory fairly well and own there silencers. They have sold the company to the Remington consortium but have stayed on to operate and manage it. Great people and good products. Clean simple designs. My brother has done extensive study on "mufflers" and prefers a much more expensive Canadian (?) brand but my Gemtech stuff has been great.

We run various silencers on our rifles. I haven't tried a GEMTECH can yet, but their .22LR subsonic ammo has been great in the suppressed .22 rifle and pistol.

Great service provided and plenty of accessories available. Questions are answered honestly and if they do not know they will find out. Very competitive and the transfer costs are fair, other shops are proud on that pricing. Thanks!
