Knowledgeable and friendly. Although, I felt one of their gun smiths was rude and condescending, so I haven't returned. The sales staff was great. Decent prices. Maybe I will try them again. It has been a while.

I walked in here completely clueless about a year ago, the staff was very helpful explaining the pros and cons of different ARs and helping me pick something that was a good fit for my needs. Went back a few months later to buy a second one and experience was great again. I have now bought 4 firearms from these guys and plan to continue using them whenever I can.

  • Nice guys and price of work ended up less than quote.
Always have loved Curts. Bought NFA items there and other places and their follow through on that tedious process was very professional. Low pressure sales also and they are not as condescending as most gun shops.
They are not currently doing private transfers and recommended 99 Pawn up the street for those.

  • Honest down to earth
Curt's is a great resource for all your AR-15 needs. I bought my first stripped lower from them years ago. My latest dealings with Curt's (FFL to FFL) have been very positive. They have a great group of guys ready to help.

  • Lie to you and blame it on you.
I ordered a complete upper being quite specific with what I wanted, I had them read back what I wanted before I paid for it. A friend was in the area and picked it up for me.
The barrel was shorter and had the wrong twist rate. When my friend took it back to replace with what I wanted they said it was our mistake and charged another $100 above what they quoted for the upper I wanted.

I won't deal with ANY shop that lies to me.

IF you do buy from them double-check everything!!!

Ahhhh Curt's Discount Shooter Supply...

While the star rating might appear bad, I don't have any particularly heavy issues with them. Their service is decent, the employees are knowledgeable. Really my lukewarm review just comes down to pricing and selection.

Pricing: Look, I get there's a pandemic running amok. Demand is high, supply is low. But ho-lee shiet, 60 cpr for 9mm range ammo? Hell, a few weeks back I saw an AK marked up to $1000 when MSRP is $700. Maybe I'm missing something, but a 42% mark up is straight up brutal! I'd really only suggest buying from them in the current state of things ONLY if they have something nobody else has and you're willing to pay out the bum for it.

Variety: Yes, the shop specializes in AR platform rifles and 'pistols'. I get that. But goddamn, they take up like literally 80% of the available inventory. I would love to see some more variety and really see this shop flourish. Occasionally they do get some non-AR guns in, but they're usually Century or PTR made clones.

Generally speaking this is ultimately a shop that caters to the consumer demographic of pasty white boys (this coming from a pasty white boy) that buy and hoard AR platforms for the end times or the government takeover. While that may be what brings them business, it also drives away clientele that want something other than an AR15.

I give them a rating of 3/5.

Bought a muzzle brake for my 30-06 today. Called in the morning and received an answer in a couple of rings (good luck with that at KEITH'S!!!).

They had a Surefire muzzle brake for my 30-06 for only $59. I swung by a couple hours later and they installed it on the spot without me even having to ask.

Love it when companies go the extra mile.

Pardon the junk in my garage in the photo below....

Pros
  • Huge selection of high end quality guns and suppressors.
  • Good knowledge of what they sell
  • Solid gun shop
Bought two guns from Curts over the past 5yrs and quite a few accessories. They have more of the really nice high-end products. I live on the opposite side of everything from them so only visit if I find myself in the area. Was in there and they had a B&T APC9 suppressed! I had to get it. They did a good job supporting me through the manual Form 4 application.

Pros
  • Knowledgeable and they have about every part an AR builder needs.
Cons
  • Not the cheapest around.
I was in need of a carbine length gas tube and didn't want to drive all around town looking for it. I was driving right by Curt's and they had it in stock and while I wasn't ecstatic about the price it saved me from driving around looking for one cheaper. While I was there they gave me lot's of free advice on a couple of AR projects I am working on. I also asked them about how I-1639 was going to impact their process on transfers of semi-autos for WA residents. They told me it's business as usual for them. I admire them for taking this position when some other Oregon FFLs are giving up on these transfers for WA residents

Pros
  • Good AR stuff
Cons
  • Store hours and lack of ammo, reloading components and firearm selection
We'll, they aren't the best, as someone else stated. They cater to the black rifle club and do a good job at that. Their staff is pretty knowledgeable. However, they don't have a wide selection of firearms. Half the time I stop there, they are closed. I've ended up going to northwest armory and finding what I needed on those days. I did have one bad experience when I had them order a lower for me. They forgot to order it. I called to ask them if it was in the shop yet and they said they had record of the purchase order, but totally spaced actually ordering it. At least they were honest and accepted responsibility on that one.

Pros
  • Prices, knowledge, quality
Cons
  • Ammo selection, closes too early
I don't believe I have ever had a bad experience at Curt's. If you are looking for anything black guns related they usually have it. The staff seems quite knowledgeable and more than happy to help with any questions. They seem to be committed to carrying only quality parts and accessories (no air soft junk). Selection and prices are not internet low but once you factor in shipping and transfer fees they are very competitive.
There are only two reasons I couldn't give them a 5 star,
1: I'm a working man and getting there before 5pm is not easy for me, I own a retail establishment myself and staying open thill 6pm is best for my customers who have to work. If your customers are rushing to get to you they'll find the other store that's open later.
2: The ammo inventory is not the best, could definitely do with more stock and selection.
These are by no means deal breakers, I will continue to shop at Curt's first when looking for anyhting gun related.

  • ? Not open 24 hours? LOL
Always enjoy my trips into Curt's
These guys have helped me with many a build and are always helpful with great options and real-life, experience-based feedback on what works best.
They also have a great selection of tactical rifles and pistols if that's your thing.
I never have come away from Curt's without more knowledge than when I entered.
Great guys, great place!

Old post, but most fitting. Just bought an AR from Curt's' booth at the Rickreall gun show. Folding iron sights, one of the red dots they brought. 3 P-Mags and a case. Both guys were pretty nice, and let me walk away three times without being pushy. Answered my questions best they could.
Thanks, guys!

Pros
  • Privacy, selection, customer service, not a boutique
Cons
  • In Portland
This is a great store that honors email and phone requests to hold in-stock items until I can make the 2 hour drive. They quickly answer email querries and tell me straight-up if they can provide what I need or not. The clientele is an in and out crowd; not needing an asthetic boutique setting..... The staff is very knowledgeable , professional, and all about making all my transaction(s) fairly, accurately, promptly, and secure. They back up their work with a promise and desire to correct any flaws in labor or materials. Thanks Curts.

Pros
  • Selection, friendly, knowledgeable. Prices competitive with Web stores when you add shipping. Sometimes better than Internet prices!
Cons
  • No collector guns. Which is fine by me!
If you want a modern AR or AK based rifle made to order or straight off the shelf this is your store. They have or can make you a rifle for any budget. They also have a good selection of modern pistols. If a suppressor is your thing they can help you with that too. Oh and they have ammo. I don't even bother with the other gun stores in town unless I want a bolt rifle. I have been to a couple other well known gun stores in town and one I most certainly will never step foot in again and the other they are just so busy I don't think they mean to be rude it just happens when you have so many people to help. Curt's even when busy at least they acknowledge your existence and let you know help is coming.
