Looking for a compact or youth rifle for a standard-sized 10 year old child. Skipping over the Rascal, Cricket, and Chipmunk (a bit too small) and was thinking more along the lines of a Remington 514 or Marlin 915Y or something similar. No real preference for wood or synthetic, tube-fed, bolt action, or magazine. Just something they can learn with.

Get a CZ 455 Cadet. They go for just over $300. Super accurate, adjustable sights and the barrel and stock can be upgraded to bigger sizes. You will also find adults can shoot them very well.
