I came across some WW2 30 cal red tip tracer, from the loose casings included it seems to 1943 vintage. The tracer does not have the thin metal disc in the base you find on 7.62 orange tip tracer so I am assuming that the trace compound will light almost instantly and damage the bore of a rifle.
Is this correct, or is there a delay to the red trace?
