There are more than one for me, but at the top would be an M1 Carbine. Lost my last chance at one for a decent price by thinking about it overnight :( Since then prices have gone up probably 50%

If I fell into surplus money I've got my eye on a left handed Remington 700 in 9.3X62 Mauser. I totally don't need it but have never had that caliber so that's reason enough for that just one more impulse gun.

At one time before on dumb BGC laws...
I used to buy older .22 Rifles and shotguns that needed a little TLC
I'd fix 'em up...play with 'em for awhile.
Then sell or trade for a new one .
Was a fun way to see how different actions worked and got to practice and improve on firearm refinish / repair skills.

Miss those days.
Some were planned out...many were impulse buys from a gun show,

I still look at / for older .22 rifles and shotguns...don't see 'em so much any more at shops or shows....sad to say.
And with all the extra fees and such...it ain't hardly worth the trouble...which was probably part of the plan behind the dumbazz law / BGC.

I decided not to spend the foolish money that ordering a 10-shot Ruger GP100 .22LR requires…but if I walked into a shop and found one, there's a good chance I'd buy it.

I reduce the risk by hardly ever going into gun stores.

It'd sure be fun to play with, I'd bet when you're done it'd sell pretty fast. If's it's on your bucket list it might be worth it.

Reverse your decision and make the purchase. I bought a Smith and Wesson model 17 in .22lr and it's one of the most fun revolvers I own

I think they came out in '62, what year would you want? I'd love an early one.
Not sure. I don't know enough about them from before the quality issues and changes in ownership. Perhaps I should. But before all that. I guess a '72 might be cool to match my favorite Browning Hi-Power.

All of the BGC crapola as kept a lot of guns out of the classifieds, I believe. A gun that's worth $100-150 all of a sudden is not a "good deal" once the fees are added. Then, in this state, it's becoming a two trip purchase. Often not worth it.

I go to BiMart often and always swing by the gun counter. The good thing is that BiMart doesn't sell used guns!
Other than that, I don't visit gun stores very much, either, anymore.

About forty years ago one of my grandfather's old friends was showing us the trapdoor Springfield that his father had bought as surplus when he was young. Since then I've always wanted one, but never been in the right moment to justify buying one.

Maybe some day I'll have spendable money in my pocket and happen across a good one at a good price.
