I'm not a Taurus guy. Not at all. Just no.

But... there are an awful lot of folks saying good things about the TX 22. If I were required by law to buy a Taurus, that's the one I would get.

I have never shot the Browning Blacklabel 1911-22 but my Browning 1911-380 is one of my favorite pistols. It has been universally loved by everyone that has shot mine. The 1911-380 is a true delayed 1911 toggle link action and the 22 version is straight blowback so I don't know if the 22 will be as nice. The 1911-22 DOES have the classic SA sliding hoop trigger that made 1911's so famous where most 22 1911 clones I have seen have a pinned toggle trigger (i.e. S&W 422).

Too bad you aren't up for giving the Keltec P17 a chance. It is.a totally different experience from a heavy metal framed hammer fired 22... but a really enjoyable different experience. Instead of the refind heavy metal feel of a real gun it feels more like a well made very ergonomic lite weight squirt gun with a very good trigger... yeah, I know, not what you are looking for.

Well, when in doubt, always go with wackiness. And in the .22 self-loader department, that would be the Trejo Modelo 1:

OK, jokes aside, rimfire anything isn't really in my wheelhouse. My better half, however, has a rifle and a couple pistols in .22 LR; she likes her (suppressed) Walther P22 and Margolin a lot. If you can locate a sample of the latter, you might enjoy it as a target pistol too.

Cheers.

Talk about ludicrous rate of fire. Regular mp5 .22 in full auto by SOT license holder.

My first through was that I would have to stand in line because I remembered someone else has been looking for one of those for 6 or 7 years, so I checked, and that someone was you! :s0140:

The S&W 422 and 622 are great pistols. Never really understood why they were discontinued. I sold the crap out of them when I worked at the LGS. Plus, the under-barrel design allows silencer use with the stock sights.

Another one for consideration is the Beretta 76. It is currently my favorite .22 LR pistol.

Great shooter, boring as all get out though.
Everybody should own at least one Beretta, built like a tank by a 500-year-old family-owned company 😀

Mine I have to find some new front sights. It has suppressor sights and even changing to reg sights it's off. Could be due to point of impact shift from the suppressor though.

One trip up to home range, I packed wife's "space gun" along with the regular big bore wheelguns.

Grip was OK-ish for my big mits, but fits her small hands quite well; so one data point to consider.

I know you said no polymers, but I bought my Kel-Tec P17 .22 based on mixup98's videos:

That's just one, he's done a few videos about this gun and he has never had a problem with it. You can find them for $179 right now if you shop around, but I think they are normally about $199. That's what I got mine for, and no regrets.

Now I'm looking for a .22 rifle to go with it. I kind of want a lever gun, but I'm also looking at a 10/22. I've got enough magazines to keep track of though and I don't want more, so I'll probably just stick with a lever gun.
There is a lot of good in that suggestion, mostly my aversion to polymer is my history with them. So far I have moved on from all the 22 semi autos I have had, but the polymers go by-by much quicker. One in less than 24 hours! :s0114:
Can't remember the name of it, it was in the 90's, had a transparent polymer frame with a reverse taper grip. I don't think it was the Magnum Research, I recall it having a rounder grip. All I do remember for sure is I bought it one afternoon, went shooting the next morning and went right back to the gunshop before I went home after shooting it

I have had a bunch of them over the years as well, all the way from a Dan Wesson to a High Standard Sentinel. With the slower firing and loading of the round ones I like centerfire better and am kind of looking for a Cimarron Model P Jr or Lightning in 32 H&R

ETA: have looked at these before but from what I have read the QC on them can be spotty
I have one and it shoots great. BUT when I bought it brand new it shot a foot and a half to left. I sent it back and they replaced everything but the frame. That was when they first came out but at least ruger will make it right.

A couple oddballs

The pistols are very intriguing! I guess there's some things you can do to improve the trigger and even though you are never going to get world class accuracy out of them apparently you can get much better than expected accuracy out of them

Figured it out! It was a Ram-Line Syn-Tech Exactor Pistol
I think I remember it being clear from tha magazine cover, or maybe I'm remembering the magazines, either way . . .

If you're looking for a longer-range type of pistol, the Ruger Charger may float your boat. I bought one when my kids were little, and it was the one gun that always made the trip with us to the gravel pit for some shooting fun. After they got older and moved out, it seemed like it just sat in the safe too much. Now it is my favorite grouse getter.

I shot a Ruger Charger back in the mid 80's, didn't see it was worth the trouble

Get a Nelson Customs 22lr 1911 conversation kit. Tip top notch quality, very accurate, good sights, no transfer fees. They are slowly taking over bullseye shooting where I am at.
