Just tossing this out as something to consider....

With all of the PITA hassle of buying and selling a firearm nowadays...
It might be better to focus on firearms that you know you enjoy and want to keep.

That said....
I voted for the wild card option
Colt Woodsman or Huntsman....
Browning Challenger or Nomad...
High Standard HD series...
At one time Walther made a P-38 in .22LR...

Aye, there's the rub. I don't know which ones I may want to keep until I try them and as bad as it is now, the possibility of it getting much, much worse are all too real. Without getting into the which and what I have that I am happy with and plan on keeping one of the 'holes' in what I have is no semi auto 22lr, which is generally considered a 'must have' for a well rounded collection. If it turns out when the music stops I am left without one I doubt I will lose any sleep over its absence, but as long as I have the opportunity to try and shoot different options I will do my best to enjoy the hunt :)

But also, The Hunt is one of my favorite things about having, buying and sometimes elling, firearms. Much like these days I may only drink one or two beers a year, I still enjoy strolling up and down the beer section at the store looking at all the options.

Thanks for the wildcard suggestions!

ETA: Also, a 22 semi auto isn't all that is on my 'maybe' list right now, there are a couple other firearms I am looking around for, some long term projects to finish, and depending on what I find first and what happens with the HPA and The SHORT Act the cash I have might go a totally different direction

If that's the case I would look at intended use and what you want out of the gun. For example pissing away 500 rounds blasting into targets rapid fire. Single hand Olympics style target shooting. Training tool for other guns. Survival gun. Hunting. Backyard or basement shooting. Etc etc. imo regardless of use if it's not fun it will sit or be sold. For me a suppressor is key to having more places to shoot and also for fun.

Same! :)

Back in Dec 2021 I was big into Form 1and had the cash in hand for 3 stamps as a Christmas gift to myself but had to spend it to help out our daughter with a little emergency. By the time she paid me back the ATF had sized Diversified Machine and the Form 1 world is still struggling with the fall out :(

Fyi in my experience any 22 can of normal size performs imperceptibly the same to any other can of the same size in terms of sound. My $109 aluminum baffle can performs within 1 db as my titanium 3d printed flow through can. Therefore any cheap can will do imo (applies to 22lr only). From ordering to pickup (or delivery at your door) now takes a total of 7-25 days via form 4.

I've had really good luck with my GSG 1911...

Wild card: CZ Kadet. Think they are discontinued now though...
Woodsman and High Standard have been on my wwnt list for years, but always elude me..😕

I'd say since youve tried a lot of the conventional models, now's the time to get real weird with it and find one of those old Whitney Wolverines or Beretta Neos or something

Years ago someone on a long gone forum posted up a sweet CZ 9mm with a Kadet conversion and the best I could get together at the time was just a little bit short 😢

But this might be something to consider! On my Other Things List is a small frame EAA Witness in 9mm, and they did make 22lr conversions kits 🤔

The 9mm now and if/when things go bad for firearm purchases the conversion kit might maybe hopefully still be something I could get shipped to my door :)

Treid the Neos, OG Wolverines are way out of my price range, heck, the magazines are $125.00 ea!

NAAs are definitely an acquired taste.. 😜
I want the sentinal but the msrp is not for me, maybe a used one will pop up in the future.
A sidewinder would be ok too.

Maybe a rock island XT in 22 and 45acp two for one.......not the standard slide, pinned barrel for better accuracy.

I bought the XT 22mag and like it alot but whats not to like about 14 rounds of 22mag. It replaced the PMR 30 that I didnt like and gave away.

I have a complicated relationship with 22lr pistols, I want to love them, I enjoy shooting them, but they always find their way down the road sooner rather than later. Over the years I have owned almost all versions of the Ruger, a couple Buckmarks, a Beretta Neos, S&W Compact, a J A Ciener conversion, a Jennings (ok, not real proud of that one) S&W Victory, Walther PPK (don't think I shot that one, flipped it in a trade) and I think a couple others I have forgotten about. Most have been fine, not the Jennings obviously, the Ciener wasn't great and the Ruger Mark II 22/45 was just *wrong* . . . like almost a 1911, but NOT a 1911, maybe just an Uncanny Valley response on my part?

Anyway, time to try a new one and I have tentatively narrowed it down to a S&W 422/622 or a Browning Black Label. I haven't shot either, the S&W feels good in my hand and the size of the Browning reminds me of the 1911 style roll cap gun I had as a kid in the 70's and has served as Platonic Ideal for the last 50 years :s0114:
Runner Ups would be a full size 1911 copy, a better conversion kit then the Ciener, the S&W 22a, but they suffer from broken frames, the Beretta 76 / 102 or who knows.
This was so much more fun before 114 :(

Also, I'm not feeling the polymer these days, so yeah, I have heard good things about the KelTech and others, but they are not high on my list

Any suggestions?

Well, the Browning black label is off the list now :s0114:
Stoped by Sportsmans this afternoon and they had one and it's just a little bit too small, I think they said that it's 7/8 scale and if they've done 8/9 or 9/10 scale or something it might've been OK, but it's just a tiny bit too small
