I'm quite certain that the laws regarding "person in control of vehicle" will remain the same for a few more decades, meaning even if the vehicle is fully autonomous capable, people can and will still get popped for DUI.Yesterday I was reminded why AI when integrated well can be very successful and save lives.
The LGS I frequent is right next to a bar. It was 11 in the morning, and people were already standing outside sloshed.
I had taken my wifes Tesla there- which has full self driving and AI integration. All you have to do it talk to it like a normal person, it responds normally, and will now drive you perfectly from one location to another, better/safer than any human.
As I was getting in the car, told it where to go, and it started driving me home, I watched as one of the 'regulars', a 60 something absolutely sloshed female, tried to back her car out. She could hardly navigate the parking lot. She eventually got it to the exit and nearly hit another car entering the street. Called it in, and then told the car to take me home via a different road, which it did to steer clear of this drunk, who was absolutely going to kill someone.
What does this have to do with AI? We are getting to the point where a drunk like that, who is going to drive regardless, could instead get in the back seat of a self driving car, and have the car safely drive them home. WAAAAAY safer for everyone.
I spent 10 years in Fire/EMS, and have peeled untold number of casualties out of drunk driver car crashes. If AI can help in this one area and save a life, it is worth it. . .
Totally agree- I think we would already have unsupervised full self driving if it wasnt for laws not catching up.I'm quite certain that the laws regarding "person in control of vehicle" will remain the same for a few more decades, meaning even if the vehicle is fully autonomous capable, people can and will still get popped for DUI.
Not saying I agree, just saying that's probably how things will work out....
Help us to weed out the real from the fake news.Curious how you all would like AI to do? I hear a lot of doomsday stuff, but curious, like on the positive side, what you would like to see it do for you or society
Unfortunately, it's going to be used for the exact oppositeHelp us to weed out the real from the fake news.
Or like sheep chit and hit the dusty trail...I want AI to make like a tree and leave…
Baaaaa plop…Or like sheep chit and hit the dusty trail...
