I would agree with the Afghan / Khyber pass trade gun notion ...or the Jezail style of firearm.
Maybe even North African...however...most North African firearms have bone / ivory inlays and wire work...
The stocks are shaped so the the shooter , fires the gun from the center of his chest.
Not the best of ideas..but I could see that working from the back of a horse or camel.
The have back action percussion locks...so late period...say 1840's - 1870s for the muzzle loading era.
That said...
The could have been made much later....since that style of firearm hung around for a long while.
And with the souvenir trade being what it is...damn near anything is possible.
