I heard Hurt by NIN a couple of weeks ago. It didn't seen to have any emotion like Johnny brought out in that song. I like NIN, but in all honesty, Johnny kicked their bubblegum with their own song!
Given the subject matter I think the lack of emotion was intentional on Reznor's part, but I may be off base there. Definitely agree with @CamoDeafie that it's better when taken in with the album in its entirety, I wish more bands were putting out albums like that these days.

Perspective. Trent wrote the song from the perspective of a young man, possibly dealing with abuse of drugs, the words resonated with Cash and he brought an immense, end of life perspective to the lyrics, full of regret and imminent mortality.
As a Gen X NIN fan from the 90's, I was already beginning to appreciate Cash when his version came out. Honestly, to me from my Gen X perspective, it was the greatest gift he could leave to this world.

My electric toothbrush died last night . I was looking for the same replacement and and found out it was discontinued. Left me with over 25 replacement brush heads. :s0009:

Late to the party but what 'grinds my gears' ? Well lots of things but ONE being musicians who try to imitate an ORIGINAL who should NEVER BE IMITATED unless they sound 100% like the person.

There is NOTHING worse than hearing a happy, joyful voice imitating a original, soulful, 'bluesy' song by Hank Williams SR., Johnny Cash, Elvis, or probably the worst - on that show 'America Idol' years ago when some kid tried to pull off Freddy Mercury on 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.
even worse any singer who when old,
decides to re record their old songs and re release

words can't describe how bad it sounds

Are you talking about Adam Lambert , who actually took over the singing duties with Queen in essence replacing Freddy Mercury? Thats some cred, man.

My wifes mom. She's in our house without my express permission. The only time I see her is when she's got a problem or dinners up. That's non of my concern. I just want her out but my wife says she can't do it. I told her I have no problem in telling her. She didn't say anything.
How would anyone feeling like I invaded your house...? :s0092:
The minimum I'd get for sure is getting thrown out and then some......... :s0112:
