What are these? Just picked up 2 of em.
They are solid steel construction, no evidence of aquatic use.
No designated anchor points.
Mechanics set to spring outward from cagebwith rope and latch trigger.
I am guessing it launches something up into air.
Glock 22 for size reference.
Thanks.

Thanks, thats exactly what these are, Bird launchers for dog training.
You sent me on the right path.
Well that was a 10.00 dollar learning experience.
I take it you don't bird hunt and/or train a "dead bird fetcher?

So years ago I worked on the Peterson ranch in Southern California.
One weekend a month they had pigeon shoot.
They had things like these set up in a trap shooting range shaped like a baseball field.
I or we as there were 3 kids per range that would keep the traps full of birds.
Basically there was six traps per Field each trap would hold two birds.
The shooter would stand just like a clay pigeon trap shooting range.
When he said pull they would release a bird from a trap it would throw the pidgin in the air and it would fly and he had two shots to down the bird.
Before it got outside a small fence .
If the bird got outside the fence it was a lost bird .
The shooter would not know what trap the bird was coming from.
After he shot 6 rounds.
It was the next shooters turn.
But us the bird boys would run out and reload the traps with more birds.
Lol made a lot of money doing this one weekend a month.
As the shooters where very wealthy people in Southern California.
They would show up driving very expensive cars and very expensive shotguns.
The Peterson ranch was the ranch owned by Steve Peterson of Peterson publishing.
He published magazines like dirt rider magazine.
And other ones I think like car and driver and some hunting magazines and gun magazines.
He also had a dirt bike track and trails on his ranch to do dirt bike testing.
Thousands of pidgions would be killed over a weekend.
It was shut down after a few years.
Animal rights people had a $#!+ Fit after they found out about it.

Last Edited:
All the traps where electric and would be controlled by a guy in a shed .
And he would roll a dice that would tell him what number of the trap he would push the button to release the bird from.
That way nobody knew what trap was going to be opened with every shot.
