In light of this tragic withdrawal in Afghanistan and the Biden administration building up possibly one of the most powerful armies in the middle east, what are the chances gun control is backed off to down play that fact at least before the midterms?

While I believe this alone should see anyone in the leadership directly involved lose their position, it also brings up an argument the democrats don't want to have. Will they stay quiet? If California drops Newsome I think for their own survival the audible push baring some active shooter event goes away.

Look at states since then. The tail is wagging the dog, it's just that the dog is fat on milk bones.
The states have universally passed some type of concealed carry. So it is something of a balancing act.

But the OPs question is about national government.

Remember, the current narrative is that white males (veterans in particular) are now the paramount threat to our "national security", right up there with "human induced climate change"….. not hostile foreign threats like Russian & Chinese cyber and military incursions, or further Islamic terrorist attacks.. that WILL come in the near future, right after they settle old scores and complete their door-to-door executions that are currently going on.

o_O:rolleyes:

"Passed some type of concealed carry" is not something to placate oneself with, since - in theory - it is already a right. Some states acknowledged that right with a "law" allowing permitless concealed carry. However, have seen many states pass BGC requirements, stupid waiting periods, other transfer restrictions, etc.
On the OP, no sheite it's about national government. But if you look back at the past two administrations, the ineptitude of congress did not stop presidents from attempting to enact laws through agencies.

Who on the left said that?
While one may have difficulty attributing the notion to one individual, the aphorism is repeated indirectly in media, and blatantly on social media platforms. IIRC, it was also a policy consideration that the Obama administration promulgated through the VA regarding Vets and ERPOs.
Fundamentally, if the 62,400 notion was an accurate prediction, the sentiment that white, middle-aged men are entitled domestic terrorists *is* accepted as de facto truth in 'woke' circles.

Yes. The "bitter clingers", as their hero Barack Obama once said (clinging to "guns, religion, and antipathy"..)

They never come out and say middle aged white men. They like to say use other terms, like "working class voter".

It is a systemic belief in that party.

There are 21 states which have constitutional carry for both open and concealed. An additional 15 states allow open carry without a license (such as Oregon.)

Scroll down for map.

The two states I know of that have had significant carry law modifications recently are Tennessee and Texas, both passing constitutional carry laws.

An argument could be made that recent changes have loosened, not restricted gun rights.

Cheers

The government can leave billions in bad a$$ equipment behind for the tally's and isis to play with so I doubt they're going to waste time throttling us over gun ownership or come attempt to confiscate anything at this point.
