No, not if the facts are as stated.

That said, I never believe the press to get anything except the address and the number of bodies correct.

The lessons I see are pretty standard: shooting is an extremely perishable skill, so if you're going to carry a weapon, train.

The article did say homicide detectives worked through the night ! Kinda sounds like the guy died.
