Until the NRA GOA and everyone puts forth the effort to educate the overall population to why We won this battle on gun bills and why The Manchin-Toomey bill failed many people will think the gun lobby is too strong. We need to educate them to the fact the bill was written so that Home Land Security could form a registry. We need to look through the everyday person's eyes to see what they assume. We got to remember that we are fighting the media as well and they are not going to share with the people these things. By understanding that the bill was written to eventually install registration and how, will also explain the mistrust we have for the of the Government/Democratic Administration. Right now the media and the administration has explained it to the main population as we lied about the bill. It needs to be exposed for what is was! The win may come back to haunt us.

The first question you will get is: "the bill contained a provision that would make it a felony to form such a registry (15 years in prison); why are you still against it?".

The second question you will get is: "OK, suppose there is a registry; how does that hurt anyone?".

All countrys that had gun confiscation happen in order to get full control of the population so they could not rebell, started out with gun registration as what they were told was a good thing, don't worry! Then after registration was completed the goverments had the address and names of all the people that had guns and they knew what kind of guns and how many. They in turned said for the good of the people we are going to take your guns so criminals can not commit crimes with them. Then confiscation took place for the good of the people. At this point the only ones that had guns were the government and the criminals because they didn't obey the registration because criminals never obey laws. The criminals were happy and glad the population was unarmed so they could rape, rob, do home invasions with out the worry of the common person being able to fight back and shoot them so at this point the criminal had a much safer occupation and the population was in a worse place then ever!!!! Hope this answers why I am against any form of registration and why we can not let it happen! The countries that have went this avenue, have never got there guns back, once they are gone they are gone for ever! Millions of people have been controlled and exterminated in this way. Death by "Gun Control":s0131:

The other reason I keep telling people is that while the ammendment was not ideal, it was better than what is in the current bill they are pushing. So we didn't want to make the terrible bill better so that it was more likely to pass. The vote was not up or down on background checks, it was for an ammendment to a much larger, more horrific bill. That part nobody seems to be talking about.

you can't convince any of these people that #1 will be ignored by the feds, or that #2 is a very bad thing, because they are all stuck in normalcy bias and cannot imagine a scenario where registration will be used against gun owners - even though in every country that has introduced registration, at some point or another, some or all firearms are confiscated based on registration information.

Ugh, smoke and mirrors. A few points about the content of that image.

  1. That 1.4% assertion is ridiculous. I can't see the footnote but it was something to skew the results. If it was Democrat votes, Arkansas should have been there. If they wanted to include a state with two votes against it, I suggest using Texas.
  2. The Senators may represent 37% of the people but implying that has anything to do with the 90% supporting background check number is an incorrect comparison. The Senate by design does not legislate by popular vote in the nation. It's why Wyoming has the same number of Senators as California.
  3. Their firearm homicide number seems high compared to what I extrapolated. They will always use raw numbers instead of rates because the raw numbers are more shocking. They have also been decreasing per the FBI UCR data. Sources and readable footnotes would be nice.
  4. A larger majority (57) wanted conceal carry reciprocity and voted for Cornyn's amendment.
