This guy's world view - we tell you what to do in the name of _______ - has always been around. The change, at least in my lifetime, was that it wasn't the default view of most people when it came to politics. Politics was separate from personal; most things were not political. It wasn't up to "us" to tell "you" what to do in that sphere; and if it was it was after deep consideration that such was extraordinary. Not gov job to tell you what to do, but this is different because reasons.

And usually good reasons. Because they were debated between people who's default view was most things are not .gov's job.

That's gone. So you have this imbecile who sees his purpose as "...making a positive impact." Nothing is off limits, nothing is not his job, when it comes to making that impact in the name of _________. And you marry him with a mass of citizens who now believe everything is .gov's job. The old debate is gone; saying it's not .gov's job means you're evil, etc, and no limit imbecile is given the power to do anything.
