While I prefer something with a balance wheel.
I like this automatic. Not a fan of the fake tourbillion but since their real tourbillion costs $3000 (which I would not spend) not that big of a deal. Price is $150ish. Sea-gull such a big company. They make watches that cost from $150- $350,000.

Here's their real Tourbillion. Skip forward in video to see it moving. Beautiful.

This is my EDC Seiko. I bought this second hand in a pawnshop in Spokane in the 1990's for $35. The gold on the band is worn off on the under wrist area. This is an electronic watch, it has a full case of guts, not like those cheap universal quartz movements.

The first watch I owned was a Gruen Curvex that my dad gave me when I was in junior high school:

When I went to Vietnam, I wore another old Gruen with a leather wristband that quickly started to disintegrate due to climate:

To replace the Gruen, I bought a new square Seiko 5 Automatic in the PX. I wore this Seiko for about 20 years before some collector offered me stupid money for it..

For those considering an expensive watch? A collectible watch is a lot like a collectible gun.
The initial output can sting. But know what you're buying and you can enjoy it for years and make some money in the end.

Of course this was told to me from a friend.

I've heard that also. For me though I'm afraid to scratch it so it wouldn't be worn much probably. I'm pretty hard on watches. The crown and especially the bezel I always seem to mark up. I had a car I bought new and finally figured out the gazillion scratches and gouges near the door handle on the inside was from watches digging into the door panel. I never consciously noticed it, but the scratches were there in the door panel. Watches are similar for me.

Totally agree though things like quality camera lenses, quality watches, guns don't lose much value and if you got a good deal perhaps even make $.

While I prefer something with a balance wheel. That is a great looking watch.

A Hamilton is my daily. It was a great watch at $500. But watches have been greatly affected by tariffs.
Now it's $800.
Hamilton always comes up on almost discussion I've seen for good value watches. High quality but not Swiss prices.

Btw to be a real Swiss watch, it can't contain more than 40% foreign (ie chinese) parts.

Hamilton is a good value Swiss watch. Just not as inexpensive as they once were.

I think Omega is the sweet spot for a nice Swiss watch. But to each His or Her own.

Totally agree. Would love to get a planet ocean or seamaster used. I do have Tissot which is low-end Swiss but it's been a good quality watch.

I go with Oris the best auto bang for the buck ! I have a Aquis small second hand and has been my everyday for the past 8 years my previous F1 is still going and my daughter has taken possession of it .

A friend bought a Omega seamaster dive watch from the dealer in 2021 with box and papers for $5200.
He wears it for special occasions. And really enjoys it.

It's $6700 today. He's enjoying it now even more.

Hamilton is quite an old watch name, they were responsible for the creation of the first digital watches back in the late 60's/early 70's. They were the parent of Time Computer Corp, the creator of the original Pulsar LED watches of the early/mid 1970's. The technology was developed in the Hamilton Labs.

My 1976 Pulsar…. Still working…

My dad had the same cheap fake gold Casio since before I was born, so almost 50 years. This summer he was in North Dakota fishing. He casted, and then he heard a 'KER-PLUNK". Trusty rusty Casio flew through the air, and is now somewhere at the bottom of a lake in ND! ;-(

Of course, since he was now watch-less, I decided to suprise him by buy him a replacement. Ended up buying him a Tissot PRX. And since I wanted it to be special, I bought one for myself, so we could have matching watches! Of course a lot more value than money, being able to gift my dad such a watch that will have a lot of sentimental value . . .

Ended up costing me even more money though- while we were at the watch store buying them, my wife saw the PRX with the teal dial, and just had to have it. So now we have THREE PRX's in the family! Actually meant even more to my Dad . . .

The movement inside is a Seiko movement.
Pagani Design is a well known "Replica" maker.

The model the OP showed is an Omega "Replica" just with the Seiko movement.
Good value for money.
Correctamundo. The pagani design one is a bit of an odd duck. Omega partnered with swatch and made a plastic "Alaska project" watch. pagani design took the idea and enhanced it by making all metal, upgraded the crystal to ar coated saphire and surprisingly even added saphire on the bezel which is pretty rare. I always beat up the bezel so I like that. They have several colors. I think swatch owns omega but not sure. The swatch-omega plastic one is gross to my eye.

I've had good luck with Tissot fwiw. I think mine is called pr/prs? 516 or some such.

I like Boldr Supply watches. Singapore company using Japanese or Swiss movements depending on the model. Titanium cases and sapphire crystal.

I have this one and it's been bombproof.

Not as economical some of the ones above, but Black Friday deals have been $200.

Nice clean design! Titanium, automatic, saphire with AR coating is a lot of good features for $200. AR is a must for me now except for <$30 cheapo toy watches.

Here I was thinking my Fossil watch was snazzy.
We bought it on our honeymoon back in 1999 while in the LA area.
_fossil watch 1.png

We were just broke-ish kids back then and now I really don't wear them.

I don't understand the appeal of these things :s0092: Or why people would spend so much on em just to bang em into patio tiles and car doors...

Another vote for Addiesdive watches.
This one is the 'Captain Willard " homage watch....with a NH35 movement.
it is a copy of the Seiko watch worn by Martin Sheen in the movie Apocalypse Now .

Mine shown ...has a replacement NATO style leather band.
It is a great watch...works and runs keeping excellent time.
About every three days or so..I do need to reset the time....it is off by about 20 seconds or so.
Easy to do.
The luminous hands and markers / bezel glow well and long....I also like the rotating bezel for keep track of time .

Is it cheap....yes....
Is it Chinese made.....yes....
Would I rather have a real Seiko....yes...

Is it just as good as a real Seiko...no...but it does work well enough for my needs....
I wanted a rugged , "Waterproof" , automatic watch...that wouldn't break the bank.
This one does so and it looks good as well.

Not to burst your bubble, but I suspect those are not authentic Seiko's, the brand name would appear on the face or the bezel. Don't be surprised if you receive a cheap Chinese knock off, rather than an authentic Seiko.

"Lamont", who hangs out near Popeye's Chicken will sell ya one a bit cheaper.
