Even if you don't celebrate the same or think the same , that does not mean that one should offer a retort that may make something out of nothing.
Meaning , how you say something is just as important , as what you say.

Time and place as well as knowing your audience and your previous history with them , can make a comment funny or of a offensive nature.

Also :
Accepting the comment and presuming good intentions from the speaker / poster / forum member goes a long way in keeping the peace.
