Using the logic of the OP if survivor would have shot the deceased with a .22lr and deceased shot the survivor with a .45 acp the .22lr would be superior to the .45 acp

Shot placement is king.
 
Shot placement as mentioned before is important , that said...
Willingness is important as well.
Willingness , as in being willing and able to pull the trigger when needed and willing to face the consequences for doing so.

The best target shooter in the world , who always can make those little shot groups we all like , may make the worst combat shooter 'cause he ain't willing to place the shot where its needed on another human.

Oh I say, the incident didn't answer any questions. By the by it just opened the door to more questions. Quite simply put, is it posible the jolly old gentleman was a better shot than the street ruffian? Plus it may be just possible the fellow who reached room temperature may have been too afraid to shoot well. Plus it's also the thug may have used the ghetto side grip on his glock which lessened his ability to make hits.o_O
