Oh, I thought you meant wench. My buddy always brought his wench along. She was stout and could carry the rope down to the elk and tie it off so we could pull it up with the winch.

deadline is 5/15 for most tags

The Tioga unit is steep and deep. The good'ol boys that hunt that unit have a rig with them that has a wench mounted in the back of their truck spooled up with a half mile of industrial 1 inch crab rope.

With an upside down truck hood for a skid. Made a good platform to haul up the parts.
