This poor Youth was obviously the victim here and the unlawful home owners who didn't properly secure their home with reinforced concrete and rebar will likely be held liable in court...............

So, after all the legal mumbo-jumbo is finished, does that weapon stay in the police evidence locker or go back to the lawful owner?

Many guns have stories (where you got it, what you paid, who used to own it, etc.). That would be an interesting piece to keep in the collection.
