My reaction is "Duh".

They keep pushing that gun violence is more prevalent in Republican, rural, non big-city, areas. Because of suicides and accidents... these are NOT "gun violence". In addition w/o a gun only 1 in 10 suicide attempts are successful... sounds like a good reason to use a gun!!

Is it fair to call suicides and accidents "gun violence"?

Should it surprise anyone that where more people own guns, more people commit suicide with guns? How would these charts look if, instead of separating gun suicides, all suicides were were included? Did you know that more people commit suicide by jumping off bridges in areas where there are bridges? And tall buildings contribute to more suicides in areas where there are tall buildings.

Once again, the bait and switch is used. "Gun violence" is a red herring, as it redirects attention from the murderer to the tool that many murderers choose to use.

Isn't the actual problem the fact that society is increasingly filled with murderers? If guns were the problem, there would be 10,000 murders (or more) daily.

Does the term "gun violence" even have meaning? It's evil linguistics meant to mislabel. I for one don't believe in the word "gun violence"....it's just physical violence. Why are we committed to blaming inaminate objects for violence?

When someone is stabbed is it called "knife violence"?

When someone is ran over by a car, is it called "car violence"?

When terrorist teens make a bomb using a pressure cooker, is it called "pressure cooker violence"?

Stop blaming inaminate objects for the physically violent misdeeds of humans. Guns are not violent.

I hit my thumb with a hammer. Not recorded as an assault.

I had a phone call today with President Trump for about seven minutes and asked him what he thought was the cause, this and why America divided.

Actually, no we did not speak today anyone with a keyboard can type up a space on a so called reputable business and everyone sees it as fact.

The reality is this means nothing at all, its just some ideas of facts strung together to form a hypothesis, there is no real way to know how accurate or reliable the story is.

This article boils down to an idea that Republicans are more likely to shoot themselves and Democrats more likely to get shot where they are in higher numbers. This actually means very little... it could be said more armed robberies are held in cities this is a fact, but to say its because Dems live there is nuts. When we look at articles like this that generalize like this its scary because in turn they are looked at as fact. There are many Democrats and Liberals that own firearms so we can't say Democrats and Liberals hate guns, of course that is often what we think; but its not always true. Because when you read the next hypothesis posted placed as fact, may actually harm us.

For 2,000 years now, we have been taught that:
"For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, slander."

But I guess all that changed when the objective switched from freedom to enslavement.

Some people don't know the difference between association and cause and effect.

Exactly. Guns don't cause suicide, they are merely a method people will use if available and won't use if not available. For actual real world evidence of this, there are plenty of countries with severe firearm restrictions that have suicide levels equal to or greater than that of the US: Suicide rates (per 100 000 population)

Probably the closest comparison is France v. US because both have a similar W. European culture. France, despite extremely strict gun laws, averages a 19/100k suicide rate while the US with what many consider to be extremely lax firearm laws, averages a 19.5/100k rate. Austria hits 18.5/100k (laws probably more Canada-like, strict-ish so to speak). Japan's firearms laws are uber-strict, and Japan beats the US at 21.7/100k though Japan is clearly not a W. European culture. Clearly, a lack of access to firearms doesn't hamper human ingenuity.

The data comes from the World Health Organization so should not be the type Antis would dismiss out of hand.

What Brussels' Gun Laws Are Like

Today in Belgium, it's not easy to own any type of gun, unless it's a rifle or shotgun. The nation prohibits the private possession of fully automatic weapons, and permits ownership of semi-automatic weapons only in certain case scenarios. Furthermore, the private possession of handguns is only allowed after obtaining special permission from the government. In the country, long guns, such as rifles and shot guns, are the only guns not prohibited by the state. According to GunPolicy.org, these regulations categorize Belgium as a country that has "restrictive" gun control laws.

Liberals like to give violence the most evil names possible to rile up the sheep:

On suicide statistics, USA has more guns per capita than any other nation by far, yet at least 47 other nations have higher suicide rates. In the table, click the top of the left column "Rank(both sexes)" to sort from #1 down. A lot of the countries have almost no guns:

Homicide is not just murder, it does include self defense and police who kill criminals. All murder is homicide, but not all homicide is murder.

They just say homicide and skip the separate info underneath it hoping people don't go further.
