I know for a fact that a handgun can be legally shipped via the United States Postal Service if FFL to FFL. I do not know about the other stuff. I do not know if the actual post office building being leased or owned by the USPS would enter into it. Would wearing a hunting vest make any difference? Dunno.

Shipped one last week USPS. I made sure I had a copy of the FFL's license I was shipping to and pictures of the packaging showing the bolt was boxed separately having read stories of people shipping UPS and FedEx having to completely unbox to demonstrate. They were friendly and the process was very smooth.

I think if you researched it that as long as you are in compliance with local CC laws that you can carry into a local post office. Our local post office is a leased facility and not owned by the Federal government. I will take a picture of the sign at ours tomorrow, I am there pretty much everyday sending things out.

Ours is not. If you look at the parcel map it lists the owner as " The United States of America "

Just like that, which I kind of took a double take at and chuckled when I saw it the first time

Ah, I carry ALL the time. And frankly forget to take it off when I should. I've been in several banks and Post Offices with it on. I will say, if I have to make a visit to a courthouse, it stays in the car.

went to the new casino with my wife for my birthday in May. We are walking in when she looks at me and says you don't have your rocket on you, do ya. It took me awhile to figure out what the heck she was talking about the whole time thinking something totally different. :D

Now I tried to argue this point with a pro gun lawyer/judge in Sequim.
He said you'd go to jail. Can't have a firearm on you.
But I read it like you do. If I am legally walking down the road and I walk into a PO I should be completely legal with my carry gun.
But as with all laws, they are written in a way to be arbitrated in court by paid lawyers.
Gotta get your bros paid y'all!

Pretty typical law. like saying "you can carry a gun into a post office as long as you are temporarily transformed into a centaur" Anti-gun people say "see, guns are allowed in post offices" while the smart people say "ts not legal if there is no possible way to actually be legal"

Not so much the property but the place where the employees of the FedGov work.

I say we open carry protest right on public property near a post office local to us lol.... that'll teach them. Personally I don't even play their BS games and I take my happy behind to a FedEX or a UPS store. It is my pleasure to pay a little more and not have to give up my gun as soon as I get on property. The degenerate USPS will never impress me and I wish I didn't have to deal with them.

I support those responsible citizens who do conceal carry on USPS property.... GOOD FOR YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU!!!!

Have I missed something? Are there now armed guards and metal detectors at all Post Offices? If not, and a person were carrying concealed in such a way that it is truly concealed, how would they know? The only way they should know is if the gun is drawn in defense of your life, in which case, being alive to face a potential charge for carrying seems far more preferable to leaving the Post Office in a body bag. It's obviously a question of conscience, but it seems laws like these only serve to make a citizen into a victim,a and that shouldn't be the job of the government.

Keep Calm and Carry On :p

With the Republican majority and a Republican in the white house maybe it's time to push for an end to the federal property gun ban. It is nonsensical and unconstitutional. Needs to be axed. Only places I can see to remain "sterile" would be courts, jail/prisons, and *maybe* military bases for non-military/non-dependent personnel. Federally owned buildings like SS offices, post offices, parks svc etc should not be gun free zones. If a guy has to visit a VA hospital as one of many errands, he should not be turned into a criminal just for having a legally carried firearm with him. Go tot he VA in Portland and there are signs everywhere - they go so far as to claim the roadway through the property as being gun-free, not to mention parking garages, etc.
