Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
Hello, my name is nick. I am a new member and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to find either instructions on turning a remmy 700 sps into a take down rifle or if there are any gunsmiths out there that have done this type of work?
That is very specialized work that most gunsmiths would not be able to do. If I were you, I think I would probably look up take down rifles and see what gunsmiths are specializing in them. They are a fairly expensive proposition. I believe Wild West Gunsmiths in Alaska makes a take-down lever action. I believe Dakota Rifles, H-S Precision, Randy's Custom Rifles ( <broken link removed> ), and Brown Precision make a take-down bolt actions. That's just a quick cursory search...
You may want to check with Wayne York,he is in the Pendleton area and is well known for his ultra light rifles.
He is a good friend of my father in laws from back when they were both Oregon State Troopers, and he knows his way around custom firearms. http://www.oregunsmithingllc.com/
