Hey guys I recently put a dnt super safety on my ar and took her to the range to test it out gun ran awesome the first I'd say 150 rounds then I ran into an issue where it would do a burst of about 3-5 then fail to feed the next round I'd just have a dead trigger and would have to chamber the next round for another 3-5 rnds before it did the same thing I have been reading around a little and from what I'm seeing people are saying it could be bolt bounce. I already run an h2 buffer my ar is 10.5 inch no adjustable gas block I went ahead and ordered an h3 but I want to check if anyone else has had similar issues and if so what the issue was another thing it did maybe 2-3 times is the bolt would come foward before the next round was fully seated in the chamber and it would pinch the round in between the bolt and the chamber any suggestions or words of advice are greatly appreciated thanks

I couldn't even get mine to run.
I did every single trouble shooting fix suggested online.

Nothing.. dead trigger each and every time no reset on SS mode. Semi auto mode ran just fine.

SonIm eager to see if someone chimes in on this thread and lays it all out so Incan see if there is something I missed. Best of luck

Thanks man I'm hoping the h3 buffer will fix it but we'll see when that gets here. Are you located in wa state? I know a gunsmith out here that would trouble shoot it for you that's so weird ur only getting one shot then nothing else something has to be off. What brand ss did u buy? Maybe your lever is too short and not touching the bcg? Or maybe u don't have a full auto bcg not sure just spit balling

I'm in Oregon.
I haven't followed closely with the law.. they may have passed a ban on them here so I pulled mine out.
But my FIL is in Tennessee.. and I think he could use a super safety!
I'd love to chat with someone here to at least learn what was going on and why mine (at the time) didn't work. Drove me crazy that I couldn't figure it out

So I was having this same issue with one of my newer AR builds and you could have 1 of 3 things going one that might not be SS related.
1. you might need to lighten your buffer and not increase it
2. you could be possibly under gassed and not getting enough blow back gas.
3. if there is increase friction against the bolt than it's causing it to slowdown enough that it's not fully resetting things.
4. buffer spring might also be tighter/firmer than expected.
5. a combination of these is possible as well.

I'll definitely look into these. What was the issue with yours? I know for sure mine is over gassed it tosses the shells so violently I do have a stock buffer so I'll try that when I go back out to the range

Part of my issue was the ammo itself was under gassed and I was still getting a fair bit of friction from the bolt and receiver as they are both still fairly new. I did also do a wipe down and reoiled the parts to help reduce the friction and it might be worth checking the mag spring tension and the feed ramps to make sure nothing is catching.
One(maybe 2) of my gas blocks are offset a little I think but it's not an issue with higher gassed ammo, steel case ammo not so much, eats it now but it exposed my issues when I started using it.

Got it thank you for the reply

Some upper receivers need a trim to run reliably. Did yours perhaps sometimes hang up with the bolt back? Did a function check work properly with the upper removed?

If the bolt is hanging up or has excess friction, there is a fix, but it will tend to break levers before anything wears down unless you remove some material from the underside of the upper receiver.

I had one of the early cassette style trigger that had set screws on the bottom. Once the had backed out a little the rifle would shoot in burst. I tighten them back down and it hasn't repeated in years.

My problems are already fixed, some just required an ammo change, others a little bit of maintenance. As for function test, everything I build/buy gets function tested before it ever make it to the range.
As for the bolts behavior, yes it was not going all the way to the rear and it was trying to feed the round but pushing the side of the case instead of the bottom. But those issues have been fixed.
